Online vs Live Behavior (1 Viewer)

Harrington, in his two books on cash, which have been out for some years, clearly states that online games have the hardness of live ones of 10x the stakes.

By the way, I 'm a total noob to online and have only played a handful of tourneys in online "homes" for very low buy-ins.
It was interesting to read however that P*stars do NOT completely ban tracking software, which is unfair even if no money at all were involved. Or, tracking software should be automatically offered to each and every person making an account and downlowading their software.
One more note:. You can minimize the edge that apps like PT as well as multi tabling give others by sticking to tournaments. The nature of the blinds increasing and the change in best strategy along with this factor make it the most level playing field for online, imo.

I bought PokerTracker and the main advantage it gives me is it shows me where my leaks are. The stats on opponents can be quite useful but nowhere near as useful as me being told that I am absolutely mental when it comes to playing the turn  :ROFLMAO:

I have PokerTracker4 as well for hand tracking and analysis. It offers a HUD but Ignition is anonymous so it is of limited utility.
It has the built in leak tracker which is great and being able to replay hands and analyze play has definitely contributed to my development as a player.

Just my less than expert observations:

1. As some have already said, online makes aggressive players even more aggressive, and loose players even more loose
2. Given the current circumstances, a lot of people you're playing with are playing strictly to kill time and get some form of entertainment; this contributes to point 1
3. The game moves much faster online, so you will see way more hands per hour than you would live. This results in you seeing "big hands" far more frequently than you're used to live
4. In the hand you shared, I'd recommend decreasing the size of your c-bet and checking the turn to exercise some pot control. You started out with a solid hand, but you ended up pot-committing yourself in a situation where you probably weren't strong enough.
5. What hand did you put your opponent on? Did you think he was on a draw? It looks like you were value betting in a situation where you should have been a bit more concerned that you were behind.
6. If your game is playing very loose, you might want to increase the size of your pre-flop raises and tighten up your opening range.

Live I usually Tend to "Practice" Senarios that might come up on Live Cash games. Especially with hand im not comfotable with, Online people tend to be more aggressive vs Live they think about it more.

See I have the opposite problem (regarding online vs live).

I know some of you have mentioned the friends and the atomosphere and that's why I enjoy nights with the guys or even live play at the casino.... online I have been itching but never made the jump knowing that coolers like a 10 boat run making me lose my marbles is something I want to avoid.

I can control myself live, but fear to click on and play loose online is what keeps me away.... only speculation, but I guess we all know ourselves... WITH that said, this quarantine is killing me and the lack of live games.

I’ve been a poker player for about fifteen years. Never really took to studying it or actively improving my game until about six months ago.

Started playing online regularly and studying a lot. Ive only made two trips to the casinosince then, for one tournament and one cash game. Sample size is so small it is meaningless, but my anecdotal observation is that there are terrible live players at $1/2 and the low stakes tournaments.

Finished third out of 43 in the $50 daily I played, cashing for more than $350, and tripled up my $200 buy in in the $1/2NL and cashed out $600 in about an hour and a half.

TBH, in the cash game I was just dealt monsters that kept hitting, but those losers kept calling me down.
