Yes, one of the greatest. But not the greatest.

Luck be a Lady. ;)

I don’t like writing out “Sponsored by” and the general inlay design. But more than that, I don’t like how the color matching is not consistently executed (from chip to chip). Why is the $5 primarily blue? Why does the $20 have multi colored peppers?
Can’t decide between rating it 1 or 2.

I think a some disagreements on design/spot/color decisions can be thought of in terms of a difference between "commercial" (i.e., casino, underground game, etc.) and "home" use chips. Some people design their own sets without regard for whether the chips look like they would be at home in a commercial environment and some want the chips to look like they were pulled off the casino floor.

For those, like me, who lean toward the latter, you have to reckon with the often shoddy commercial chips out in the wild. It is apparent in a lot of (most?) casino racks that whoever was in charge of the chips frankly couldn't have cared less. And even in those instances where they cared a little, they simply hadn't thought long enough about chip design to make decisions that hobbyists would broadly agree on.

So for those of us who want our personal sets to have the look of a commercial design aesthetic, sometimes the bugs are the features. There is obviously the risk of a slippery slope toward "there is no such thing as a bad design" sort of thinking, but this is a set that, in my opinion, benefits from all of the "failures" point out above.

Both amazing sets.

Love the Lady Luck set. To start, that inlay is incredible - it's elegant and still very functional (denoms are clear). Individually, each chip looks absolutely amazing and stands on its own merit. Great color and edgespot choices. And then side by side, you see how each chip works with one another to create a perfect cohesive set. You can tell that there was a lot of consideration put into the entire design. Then factor in the MGK mold and the fact that BCC put out a set with great QC - absolute priceless set.

Let's not overlook @TheDuke's Club Kaneda on the MGK mold. The pink 50-cent chip is one of my favorites. I'm such a sucker for pink chips.

Pr0n here.

@TheDuke: Do you still have this set? I seem to recall that it was your forever set.

Nope, those are top of mind (always) with me...just like your Lady Luck set ;)
Too bad but also a great thing these sets will never change hands.

Would kill for a rack of MGK red...

Appreciate the shoutout!

Still have this set. I actually only own 2 sets - this and a set of tourney ceramics.

This will probably be my forever set. Although I wish I could redo some of the chips. I chose TRK blue colors for each of the spots on the 1 - wish I had gone with 3 different colors. Not enough contrast between those 3 colors. Also, the $20. I couldn't resist using TRK Signal green - it's such a perfect shade of green. Should have made it a $25 or gone with yellow base a signal green as one of the edgespot colors.

I'm glad I went with the pink chip with that edgespot. I originally picked out a 414 with TRK Tan with Chocolate and Almond spots.

Here's a snippet of the email I sent to Mike Endy for my order on 8/15/09. I must have changed my mind a dozen times during the process. I originally had pursued using the cigar and snifter mold (Sidepot). But due to the higher cost and potential issues (ghost mold) I wound up going with MGK. Are there any custom sets with the cigar and snifter mold?

As a repeat customer Mike gave me the green light for the 414818 pattern. Unfortunately he wouldn't budge on 8v. He advised it was a difficult low yield pattern that only vendors and very long time customers were given access to.

Chip 1 (Quantity: 110)
Pattern: 414
Base: TRK Tan
Spot 1: Chocolate
Spot 2: Almond

Chip 2 (Quantity: 160)
Pattern: 3A12
Base: White
Spot 1: TRK Dark Blue
Spot 2: TRK Light Blue
Spot 3: TRK Light Turquoise

Chip 3 (Quantity: 210)
Pattern: 414818
Base: TRK Red
Spot 1: Almond
Spot 2: Coral

Chip 4 (Quantity: 110)
Pattern: 614
Base: TRK Signal Green
Spot 1: Sherbert Green
Spot 2: Forest Green

Chip 5 (Quantity: 60)
Pattern: 4T18
Base: Black
Spot 1: Grey
Spot 2: Charcoal
Spot 3: White

Did you still deal with Mike direct after chosen MGK ?
Since my blanks & cash set were ordered via the GB, I had to deal with Joshua and in the end he screwed us over

I can't remember a (semi) custom set on cigar & snifter mold...only sidepot chips (protoge & inplay)

If I recall correctly, I dealt directly with Mike and Dave. They just made sure I paid Joshua his mold fee. So I ordered directly thru BCC.

I didn't know others had to order thru Joshua. What did he do? I worked with Joshua quite a bit during CT years when I ran the Group buy for PNY 50¢ and he was doing the PNY 25¢. He was ok during my interactions - surprising to hear he may have done something untoward.

I guess only the GB's on CT were ran by Joshua...I presume Marsha also worked with BCC direct for the Lady Luck order.
Never received my cash set and the blanks I got were horrible...I was able to use 50% of the +15 racks blanks I got (color & mold issues + extreme warping on some colors)

He just vanished and BCC closed shop...never got any answers or refunds....Joshua did send some more racks but those were worse then what I had.
I know for sure that @BGinGA also got screwed.

Yep. I ordered and paid for a MGK mold 618-spotted Capital Room tournament set through JoshuaDalton. They were never made (theoretically, only he and I ordered tourney sets, so ne may have just kept my chips), but I never received anything from him -- no chips, no cash, no communication. He went ghost. Fuck that thief.
