Olivia's Value? (1 Viewer)

This. "Market value" is so frustrating to place. More or less I'd want to know what they cost when they were first released or what they paid for them. If they can't be honest I probably dont want to buy chips from you anyway. But instead we gotta fight about whether rare RHCs are worth a dollar or five, and someone's getting upset. These threads annoy me, not the OP, just in general, be a more well rounded chipper go research RHC chip sales, grail sets, rare sets, and learn what an average price is. Then you wont have to ask next time. Honestly make him an offer you think compensates the condition of the chips and covers what he likely paid, the rest of us aren't buying the chips you are
That makes no sense. I doubt a single person here can accurately identify the market price of this set in particular.

And for extremely rare sets like this one, these threads are useful and interesting

Hell...I got very little work done today...enjoyed the read...joking aside, things have changed since I did this 15yrs ago. Not even going to ask about the other 2 sets I was curious about :)

I think @Leonard sold his set?
I sold my Grand Casinos to @Changster right at a year ago.

Smoking is evil. Chip addiction is better than nicotine addiction. Please don't try to smoke your chips.

Smoking isn't evil, just self-destructive and kind of nasty to the non-user. It's also really hard to quit. If everybody quit, I would have less work (smoking is the leading cause of bladder cancer). That said, I tell 5-10 people a day to quit and they pretty much always ignore me.

Chip addiction is clearly better. And it doesn't make your house smell bad.

Interesting that people are talking about FMV here. It's chipping and who cares what the owner paid for them. There is only the price that purchaser is willing to pay. FMV here seems to be a euphemism for "don't want to pay too much" and "don't want to insult the seller so he won't sell" or something along those lines.

@GoodTimes - Make your ex-brother-in-law an offer and then have him contact me. Between the three of us we can figure out what they will sell for.

Full disclosure: I have some Olivia's and it would be impossible to get my set from me. The price would have to be completely out of the realm of reason for me to consider selling. And of course I'm open to offers. How much to offer? Think a really ridiculously high price. No higher. And even higher. You're getting close. If I'm buying on the other hand. Think lower, lower, lower ...

Dibs.

To each their own. I don’t mind people charging whatever, I’ve paid some really dumb prices.

But when I let go of live Vegas racks at $100 because that’s what the previous owner hooked me up at, or I give away free racks, or I charge 80 a pop for leaded inlay racks, I try to make sure they don’t go to people who think the only price they sell for is what buyers are willing to pay.

Not being shitty, just giving some small insight into the other side.

Kind of stuck here...have just enough of 3-4 different sets to get me in trouble financially...to your point, no one wants to help me build a set or part with their chips are the first ones to try to get mine. Hmmm? I too will be very selective with sales and $$ definitely plays a role but is not a deciding factor. Vineyards went to a good home for a good price but better person. Wasn't the top offer but one of the nicer guys in a similar situation, trying to pick up a rack or barrel at a time. Cheers From Austin TX

Oh yeah lol that wasn’t meant for you. Just homeboy I replied to.

And I totally get it, you’d be surprised how many of us are in a similar situation. I love how many sets there are floating around out there and have picked up a small piece or one rack here or there.

Sometimes I think of it as being stuck in no mans land, but you can also just think of it as being in a fun place. Just means you actively have something to work on, and have stuff to sell when you need more chipping funds!

The watermelon $25 8v that look like 8 u because of the big inlay gotta be $10 a whack. They are beautiful. Gotta think the $1 are a finniff a piece to someone as it is quite fancy and also a black $1 chip

Obv. I'm a believer, but there is no way to show the colors in these chips accurately. Those $25 are neon and a lot more than $10. These never come up. I've been looking for 4 to fill a barrel for years.

@RocAFella1 - No dibs.

They make me so angry. Those stupid dull giant inlays hide the best colors ever. And the denominations are so obscure it's like they were purposely hidden.

the giant inlays are polarizing. The colors aren’t. Taking the good with the bad, etc.

So odd seeing how much these are worth compared to what I bought buckets of them from spinnetti's. Literally 60 cents a chip for 6000+ of them. And they threw in free 500 chip cases. NO I do not have any left, sold my last set of 6 or 700 for $3 chip. I sold most on eBay for $1 to $1.50 a chip, easy flip and help me pay for many of my original sets. Somewhere on an old camera or hard drive are pics of sets, but never all together.

If you were to auction off a set of Olivia's, there's no scenario whatsoever that they don't sell for at least $5 per chip average. Although some denoms are more valuable than others.

Don’t auction them! Madness! Sell them to me!
@RocAFella1 - you can dibs the chips when they are on the table.

How many playable sets are out there? I have one, bivey another, and perhaps Thor (from CT based on comments on CT). Any other known sets in the wild?

Which reminds me that I have to post my begging classified's ad again.
