Hi guys, I would like to know your opinion I have the possibility to buy a huge set of year 1975 Jetons, it includes 38mm chips and the large denoms are 42mm they are from a closed casino in Spain I would like to know the approximate price of this type of of old chips the previous owner was a recently deceased old casino manager and his wife contacted because he knows that I play poker and I also have chips but I have never had any of that and I would like to do him the favor of buying them.
Thanks for reading any tip is welcome.

It depends, and worth what someone will pay.
Marble texture and windows usually add to the value. Serialized also helps. I see them from $0.75-$10 each, so somewhere in that range. Not much help, but not much description. Pics will help.

Sounds very interesting. Definitely, pictures would help. And how many jetons are we talking about? A few thousand? Many thousands? Many tens of thousands?

Jetons on few thousand including some old molds clay from Spania mold and some old leaded Paulson .

Working with very limited information here, but... The value, if any, is probably in reselling complete sample sets over a long period of time. Figure out how many sets like that you are looking to resell and at what average price, that should help you make an offer for the lot. If you’re just looking to keep them all, I would not go over €0.50/jeton average unless they look spectacular. Even that may be pushing it, depending on condition.

Oy vey, value in reselling sample sets over long period of time :dead:

@orsonberger your best bet here is to probably not go too far with this thread publicly. What I would suggest is funded a trusted site member, sharing the find including pictures and breakdown, and seeing what they suggest.

If you don’t have a known person to reach out to, I’d be more than happy to help. I have a pretty darn good track record concerning being fair and upstanding regarding these type of finds, and would love to see you make a score or even have more chips brought into the community. Or, if you’d like, feel free to PM me and I can you provide you other members that could be trusted and could share the insight you’re looking for.

Anyways, good luck on this one, we look forward to seeing pr0n after the big score!

LOL

I'm assuming he wants to make a fair offer to the widower, instead of "making a big score". Third of the denominations wouldn't really be considered useful for actual play, so singles collectors are where it's at. And I did say if.

Haha true dat. I don’t usually suggest the big score, but definitely a discount for educating the seller and taking entire lots.

This is different than forum members pestering eBay listers or Craigslist posters, driving up the price. No one has the contact information for the widower, even if chip details were disclosed.

Cool, great counter point, was just trying to be helpful. OP seems to be looking for some assistance without giving full details, smartly, so I tried to follow up in that regard.

And maybe I’m wrong, but I’m guessing if someone said there were a set of chips for sale that shined green in the moonlight, the seller lived next to a grove of peach trees, and they’d be roadside with the chips on the ides of March, 15 people here would find them (we have good detectives).

I see 0 value in posting all information here publicly when you can just as easily get the needed info privately and without any risk, just didn’t think I needed to post all this and explain it.

I know you're just trying to protect the seller from having the deal sniped and/or having the price increase to the point that acquisition becomes untenable, but if the OP said, "These are the chips:

[pictures]

What do you think they are worth?"

...do you really think people would track down the widow?

Most likely, no. If they are awesome chips and worth something? Than maybe, yeah. Helpful that it's all the way in Spain though for sure.
