So I had to make a trip out to Minnesota for the International Shrine Convention. I am spending a week out here and what else should one do when in Minneapolis? Phone a friend for a visit over dinner!

Yes, I was able to meetup with one of my favorite old chipping friends tonight over dinner. Me and my girlfriend Luly were able to break away and meet for dinner. Great conversation and a good dinner is always a great way to spend an evening.

Highlight of the night was I was pulling out my AMEX to pay for dinner and those of you that know the member I had dinner with, knows he likes credit card roulette. So I pulled out one card after he pulled out his card and then since there were three of us I pulled out a second card. I had some run good on my side tonight because the first card out was one of my cards and the second card out was my other card leaving one card on the hat which was none other than Forrest’s card. Yes, I won credit card roulette against @inca911. That does not happen very often as @k9dr can attest to.

Forrest, even though it was short is was great seeing you my friend. Can’t wait until next time.

We usually do it where the last card left is stuck with the bill. More sweat that way.
I was laughing at the Wikipedia. Someone obviously just made shit up or wrote their subjective experience as though it were fact.

I did see one group that did 3 cards. First (or 3rd to last) tips 10%, second (or 2nd to last) tips 20%, third (or last) picks up the tab. Thought that was cool to break it down, especially if you’re rolling like 20 deep at dinner!

10 of us went to Horseshoe Southern Indiana for a night a few years back as the warmup to Courage’s Derby City Showdown. We went to the steakhouse and had all the things, wine, wagyu, you name it.

We decide to play credit card roulette for the bill. I think it was like $2K+ with tip.

We all throw a credit card into a hat. Last one gets stung. Guinness and I are the last 2 left in the hat and we had identical looking cards. The nice waitress pulls out a card and says my name and I feel waves of relief followed by feeling bad for Guinness. This was basically his whole roll for the weekend (which technically hadn’t even started yet).

The commiseration lasted until our 2nd hour of limit low stakes Omaha when we drunkenly started to yell “THANKS FOR DINNER” at Guinness as he played the 2/5 NL and 2/2 PLO after we let him borrow a couple buyins.

Final joke was on us though. The cashier closed and I had to carry 13 racks of $1s up to the top floor of the casino boat to cash out for a cool $500 profit.

Guinness ended up playing 4 handed PLO against a couple PLP bracelet winners and the stakes got to something like 10/10. He cashed out plus $14K and had a great weekend after all.

Sometimes when you lose, you actually win. Sometimes when you win, you actually lose. And sometimes you breakeven and just get drunk.

When playing "last card pays", you make the server stand there and pull out every card?

Either the server or someone at the table.

Most of the time the servers enjoy watching people suffer and I've never had one upset or refuse to participate. They seem to enjoy it more than the players do!

As a Server:

It highly depends on the table. For some, no, I absolutely do not want to be the reason that someone at your table now has a $2k+ tab. I'm uncomfortable doing so, and it's annoying. For others, it's a blast. I'm glad they enjoyed their evening and that I was a participant in helping making the night memorable.

I used to mostly enjoy it though. Mostly because I also got to gamble. Party of 20 who just played Rock Paper Scissors for the check? Do you.....add the 20% gratuity? Or do you roll the dice knowing for a fact that you're either going to get 10% or 33%?

Yeah, I would say if you're going to put it on the server to pull the loser then maybe the loser pays for the bill but the winners take care of the tip? They're more likely to be overly generous from not being stuck with a bill for a party
