It drives me crazy when i am watching a movie or tv show and people have those cheap plastic striped dice chips that are almost always sold in the equally cheap aluminum travel cases.

I dont mind it if it is a scene like a college party or suburban home game where the characters wouldnt splurge a little extra on chips, but theres so many times where they have those chips in scenes where the people playing are the types that have money and would probably invest in nice chips to go with their nice poker table, or worse yet the scene is supposed to be in an actual casino.

In oceans 8 its brief but you see a poker table with those cheap chips in the hangout of Kate Blanchet's character. I could even buy her having some old bicycle chips that are decades old and are thick and heavy and have character , but i cant see this cool criminal con lady buying chips from walmart to put on her card table at her hide out / house (warehouse?).

The bigger the movie is, the more insane it makes me.

Agreed. You would think movie directors would have access to better chips. This stands out for me, too.

I don't think the audience here is your average movie goer... We have a more keen eye for chips. I think those cheap chips look like authentic casino chips to the average person watching a movie.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. At least Rounders got it right.

Several years ago, I loaned my Double Down saloon chips to appear in the movie Element. Link to the thread on CT:

It goes with whatever your passion/hobby is and observing it in movies.

Among other hobbies I have, I am also a firearms enthusiast. If I had a $1 for every time I saw a gun mishandled or a cheap/shitty gun with some Hollywood deco thrown on it and passed as premium, I swear... lol

Or every time you hear the cocking of a hammer sound on a Glock type pistol, drives me bonkers!!
