I picked up this chips set from a guy on a recent trip to NY. He couldn't tell me much more than that they were used for an invitation-only game in Flushing. The design is beautiful, and the chip construction is great. Someone definitely spent some money to get them made. Might be unlikely, but I am hoping someone can tell me a bit more about them. Lots of googling had me coming up empty. Is there any value in a nice set like this? I don't really host tournaments, so I may look to get them to a loving home.

Not really. The only value there could possibly be is if somebody was sentimental and wanted the set. Used ceramics typically sell in the 10c-50c range. And they aren’t particularly functional as is, because the breakdown is so bad for tournaments. It almost looks like that was a piece broken off of a larger set, and your 1000 chips were intended intended for cash game use.

Perhaps @BGinGA would recognize the shape/texture of these ceramics and could identify the manufacturer.

As far as the design itself - if these were for a private game, and if the guy you got them from couldn't tell you anything more about it, then I'm betting nobody else can, either. I mean, someone can, i.e. whoever might have ever played in it, but if it wasn't famous then you'll have a hard time randomly running across someone who played there.

Taking my own guess, based on some close-up pictures of the BR Pro Nevada Jacks, I'm gonna agree with @mnebesny and say they look like textured BR Pro ceramics.

Both chips have a textured, "linen" / crosshatched finish that stops short of the edge by just a bit, and a narrow untextured ring right up to the edge.

Here's a post from BR Pro talking about their textured vs smooth chips: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/sunfly-vs-abc-chips.63968/#post-1264776

If you email BR Pro it's conceivable they would have records of having made the chips you bought. They probably can't tell you much due to customer privacy, but maybe they can tell you something.

Probably made by Nevada Jacks, but definitely not Chipco, GOCC, or PGI chips. NJ used to produce chips for a few web-based companies that offered custom ceramics. Modern day ABC textured chips are very similar.

I just wanna know how to get an invite to the game! I’m in flushing all the time hahaha

Just heard back from them, and unfortunately it isn’t one of theirs :(

I love the square edges. Wish someone knew who made them. Looking to do a custom set like these.
