What is the attraction of “No Cash Value” chips? Just curious

Thanks in advance for any replies

It's nothing more than a security feature for a casino. Non-value chips/checks do not have to be backed up by money and don't represent a monetary liability against the corporation.
Otherwise they can have the same design features as value chips, if wanted.

NCV chips are usually given to players as promotion by the casino or for use in tournaments & can't gerenally be purchased as easily as cash chips. So from a collectability standpoint, they are harder to obtain & there are less of them in circulation outside of the casino.

Lol, total tournament bank is a lot of cash to keep on hand for something that’s never going to be redeemed.
Oh come on... You know that if they didn't write NVC or "Tournament Only" on them, some drunk degenerates would try to cash then in and then make a scene.

Right, like cash chips you can just buy at face value and walk out with. A tournament set would require multiple entries to get the chips.

Also getting caught pocketing tournament chips, usually results in a ban. Not sure if its from the casino, the poker room or just future tournaments, but it is risky if you like to play there.
