Excited to join the forum. Super new to the poker chip world. Have ordered some Milano .25 and $1 for low-stakes cash game. Want to put together a tournament set at some point. Are the Rounders chips worth it? Or any other chip sets that are an absolute must-have for home tourneys? Thanks!

Welcome to PCF!!!! You definitely should get lots of samples to find out what you like and don't like. And there are plenty of resources on here to help you out with any poker or hot dog roller related questions you might have!!!

Welcome.
My advice. Whatever your budget is today, be prepared to spend 4-8x that. Get samples!!! There are a LOT of great chips. They all feel, look, and cost different. Spend lots of time on here before purchasing. Every day you will come across different chips that you see and like.
It’s a sickness but it’s awesome! Lol
Good luck!

Get samples. I think there is still a traveling sample set of numerous chips around.

Make sure to have a solid breakdown so you don't overbuy chips. This isn't super important when chips cost 50c, but you don't want $4 chips just sitting around.

Once you get enough posts, make sure to post wanted ads in classifieds as sometimes that's the only way to obtain some chips. This will also build your feedback stats for when you want to sell chips back. Trust me...you will sell chips!

You will be disappointed. You'll find an awesome looking chip, but it won't feel right. You'll find a great feeling chips, but the colors are off.

Are the Rounders chips worth it?
This is both a terrible and fantastic question. It's terrible because it's completely subjective. Are they worth it? I don't know... Do you love Rounders? Does the silhouette of a bear do it for you?

But it's a fantastic question because you're asking whether CPC chips are worth it. Is it worth it to get the only true clay chip still being sold to the home market at a price that is certainly easier to handle than a fully custom CPC set? It absolutely could be.

Yes, definitely get samples. You've seen it on many posts before and you'll see it here too. But the overall question is what do you want to get out of your set? Are you honestly looking to just be one and done, or do you want to get into the hobby? Have you handled casino chips before and if so, do the CPCs still hold your interest?

Overall, there's a massive difference in everything between milano's and CPCs. It's kind of like saying, "hey, I want to get into cars, so I bought a Ford Fiesta, but I'm wondering if Mustangs are any good". There are so many other cars out there that have differences that you couldn't even imagine. And the same goes for chips.

Anyway, welcome!!!

A second job wouldn't be a bad idea either. When you start dabbling in the Paulson chips you'll be surprised how they impress you, at least most people do. I just started this virus/hobby two months ago and I just went over 1000 chips, $3.5k, and I don't even gamble. Looking back on how I started, my first chips were from Amazon, then Poker Store, then CPC, eBay and PCF. Once I got my first Paulsons I just figured that's the way to go, but they can be crazy expensive. You can get some nice CC's that cost a lot less than paying $5 or more 'each' for say, Paulson Dunes which unfortunately I took a liking to.

Rounders chips are great, but my chips are better ;)

My opinion is that, as cool as it is to have replica chips from rounders, nothing beats your own meaningful custom set. Or how about rounders for tourneys and take your time working on a custom design for a cash set?

Get samples!!!
