Hi everyone -- I'm looking to create a very high-end set of custom poker chips for my high-stakes home game in LA. We've been using some vintage chips, and more recently about 2800 Paulson Classic chips that I acquired. If cost were not an issue, I am looking for recommendations for the following:

- The best vendor for custom poker chips (CPC?), and the best type of chip if I wanted a high-end look and feel.
- Artists / designer to help create the design and inlays

Looking to get about 3000 chips in total, with $5 / $25 / $100 / $500 / $1000 / $5000 / $25,000 / $100,000 denominations.
(For those wondering why I need $5/$25 when I also want $25k / $100k, its because we sometimes do smaller stakes games.)

I have no specific timeline, just wanted to find the best resources to do this, would greatly appreciate knowledgable reccos. Thank you so much!

If you really want fancy high-end stuff for the high denominations, you could look up MSK gaming for some plaques... I just ordered some for my poker set

I'm curious about this too. What bankrolls do you all have that playing $5/$10 is considered smaller stakes? :p

Does Abbiati sell to the home game market?
I looked into them for a larger tournament I'm setting up, but didn't really find a lot of useful info.

who said 5/10 was small stakes?

Windwalker did (well, in all fairness, I assumed it based on the below)

I belive that depends on the quantity of the order. They offer custom ceramic and hybrid chips with orders around 1000 chips. Other lines require larger orders

I've heard either Helmuth or Matusow mention that Helmuth's home game is $5/$10. I expect there are straddles and the stakes go up, but . . . Phil, is this you?
Yes, to answer your question, CPC is the best vendor for custom poker chips. In fact, they're the only vendor producing custom compressed clay chips for home games - good thing they do good work.
Their best chip? Do yourself a favor and get on this right now - they offer 15 different molds for clay chips - we can all give you our opinion, but you have to feel them for yourself. Order some samples http://www.pokerchipsonline.com/store.htm

Welcome, our new friend!:)
CPC is indeed the only business left to sell high-end casino clay chips to the public.
They are a vendor here and their customer service and product quality is stellar.
The customisation options they offer are almost endless.
Make sure to get all color and mold samples offered, to judge in person.

If you, however, can afford and enjoy 1K/2K blinds cash games, I suspect you could buy the other great firm (Paulson), which currently refuses to sell to individuals :D
Thus, you could offer an invaluable service to this community.:)

Abbiati offers their plastics with a minimum of 1000 chips/denomination. Their website has their sales email on it if you want to get in touch.

We're usually a $1k/$2K, minimum $100K buy in game.

Thanks! Will check them out.

CPC is definitely the way to go as far as chips go, and @Johnny5 and @Toby are two of the best designers out there.

Thank you!!

at their stakes, it might be easier to just buy a full custom set on whatever mold is running next as a "sample" set, and rinse/repeat if they don't like it. :D

So this is brought in cash or do your players have markers? Curious if the hosting rotates as well? Seems like at these stakes just get your own table at a casino. And a billion other questions.

In your first post, you mentioned vintage chips. What chips are these? Have any pics?

If you're really playing at these stakes, I'm assuming at least 1 person in the group is a high roller (whale) at a casino somewhere.

Why not leverage that person's relationship with that particular casino and get a personal Paulson set made?

I mean if multiple scrub donkey groups on this site were able to get custom Paulson sets, than people at your stakes and bankroll should easily get it done.

Just don't forget us! Order extras and folks here would use your cash chips as tourney chips.

Um, guys . . . If you were running a high stakes game like this, would you disclose your identity and provide details of your game in a public forum?

@windwalker : I suggest ordering a shuffle stack of each mold that appeals to you. Even though they're all made of the same material, they feel and handle differently. Also, some molds accept a larger inlay, which might affect your choice.

If I was running at these stakes I'd have my butler working out minor details like poker chips. I'd have people on the payroll to sweat these details.

I'd be too busy with things like yachts, private planes, picking out colors of my next Ferrari, planning my next elephant hunting expedition, etc, etc.

Some ideas
- Mill out some Paulson chips and add custom label
(There are vendors here to help)
- CPC custom chips
-custom ceramic or plastic (ABC, sunfly, matsui...)

Hell, if you are playing regular games with $100k buyins, hire me as a consultant and I'll do all the legwork of contacting and hiring designers, liaising with manufacturers (CPC/GPI, etc.), proofing designs, etc. That will free you up for the more important task of playing poker. (Caveat - a few sample chips may fall off the back of the truck).

If this is your cash game, I would suggest:

a) get yourself a casino license in your state or another friendly jurisdiction (Washington State)
b) get some cash chips professionally designed
c) approach GPI with a legit request to purchase chips for said casino
d) let me join in because I'm a nice guy
