In order to make some samples for a potential licensee order over here we had to attempt to fix the shaped inlay punches which had not been offered for a couple of years.
We managed to do that, but also identified that no matter what we do, we can only punch one hub inlay at a time, 100% manually, and have had to significantly increase the cost of that shape. Orders in the pipeline for shaped inlays will of course have their prices honoured.

A little explanation, as I always try to provide......

The nature of shaped inlays means there is always a higher level of wastage than circular inlays - not just at the punching stage but also after applying them, as they have a greater tendency to move off center. Therefore, there is an intrinsic extra cost for all shapes.

So, the SCA, which can be produced at close to the rate of a round inlay, costs us about 40c extra overall. The COG produces at the same rate but with a fraction more wastage.
The 4-POINTS, 4-NOTCH & TRI-MOON still punch multiples but are slower so there is more labor and overhead. Finally the HUB as mentioned above is a LOT of work.
While the premiums might appear significant and might look profitable for us, I guarantee they are not, and the factory (well Jim in particular as he does the inlay punching) will not thank you for placing large orders on them :)

You can see the shapes and prices here:

I don't have any samples available for anyone right now as the Horsehead mold is not installed at present and I would have added the samples to the set. I may have a few left over from the ones I've just had made (FDL I believe)

Cog and Hub are my favorites. :)

scallop is still my favorite, but i'm really glad to see tri-moon and 4-points make their comebacks.

my biggest challenge is finding the shaped inlay that works best with a given spot pattern, but that's the fun part isn't it? ;)

I don't care for points or notches at all... but I look forward to having my mind changed when someone makes beautiful chips with them.

I always like the 4-point for a $25 chip. I guess the quarter segments sort of subconsciously pulls me to that denom :)

Not my favorites to be honest but there are sets out there that use them where the owners are looking to add-on. The Tri-Moon shape is actually one that was used a long time ago (although this is a newer punch) on 44mm scroll molds in UK casinos.

Excellent! I was waiting for this.

Shaped inlays are the boss! Baller money though! Makes them all the more desirable.

Figures that I'm a total hub inlay fanatic. Now even more pennies that I need to save up.... lol

Generally not my thing but great to see additional options available from CPC.

I'm excited to do my next set with shaped inlays.
