Well, I had won a poker table top from BBO Poker Tables from an email sign up contest they had through Pocket 5's Forum (see the attached image for the table--same pattern but I didn't snap a picture of mine for a good reason, so keep reading). It is just a poker table top, but of high quality: speedcloth, pretty cool design, heavy and high quality materials, etc. It arrived today, and I was excited to put it together. I found when I opened it that the shipping company had damaged the armrests. Agh! I contacted the company tonight to get it replaced.

Now I would have taken a picture of my actual table, but it is a 5 piece design where the base is two pieces held together by two keystone armrests and the actual table top sits in the middle. After assembling it, despite the damage, I came to find that the table top does not fit in the base. It should be snug, but it is more than that. It simply won't fit. I measured the edges of the table top and some seem to be slightly off, by about 1/16'' to 1/8'' on 2-3 sides. It may not be much, but it doesn't mean it doesn't have a big effect. Not sure if the table top is self was also damaged in shipping leading to the improper fit, but it will be another couple weeks before I have a table to take pictures of myself and share with you all once I get a response as to how to proceed from BBO.

Congrats on winning the table top, bummer it was damaged. Hopefully BBO won't give you too much of a hassle. Keep us updated

Will do woody...I took about 10 pictures within an hour of the table being dropped off by UPS. I took pictures of the damaged table as well as the quality in which the boxes arrived--they were pretty beat up, and the damage is most certainly at the fault of UPS. I put a few pictures for you to see. The damage on the face of the box isn't terrible, but there are a ton of marks and small gouges. It was not handled well. The worst damage was on the edges of the shipping box...most of the tape was no longer intact and holding the box closed and there were huge gouges in the edges. We have had similar problems with other large shipments from UPS. But you're right. Hopefully BBO is helpful in getting it fixed.

Bummer about the damage, and that the table doesn't fit together... They shouldn't be shipping something like that in a cardboard box IMO.

While I agree with you, Chan, UPS should also take better care of boxes marked fragile. They are a bit heavy, but that doesn't mean they should be thrown around. Not that I paid anything, since I won it, but shipping in sturdier materials would be reflected in price, which is not good for the consumer (neither is damage). But if BBO stands behind their product and works out a replacement, it is there prerogative to deal with these hassles that surely would not occur with sturdier shipping materials.

Conversely, UPS (with whom I would imagine there is a shipping agreement) should not have made an agreement to ship the items if they cannot do so without damaging them. My guess is that it may be an issue with the local UPS distribution center. We have had several issues with UPS having damaged other items in shipping, but I have never had that problem with Fedex or USPS, even though the packing materials are not much different.

And by the way, I just scrolled through your website after seeing that you are custom table builder. Your tables look pretty amazing. I love the hockey rink tables. I hope you are not a Canadiens fan...Let's go Rangers!

Looks nice, especially for a table topper!
Definitely a good grab on a email sign up contest.. I always thought those things were bogus because you really never hear of a winner.
Sucks that it was damaged, maybe BBO will bump it up and send you a deluxe full table; at the least a replacement I would hope

Upgrade would be nice!

They called me today and thanked me for the detailed email with all the photos I sent. They opened a claim and I am awaiting a call from the claims dept.

If they did not insure it with UPS, then $100 is all they will get. They should just send you out another with prepaid return shipping labels to send the other one back.

Thanks mrr. The hockey tables are quite popular.

I agree that the shipper is also at fault, though I still think that a poker table should be shipped in something a little more durable.
