1) There wasn’t one in the original lineup, but that doesn’t necessarily preclude it.

2) There is only one edge spot pattern available, so progression is 100% not an option.

3) There is only one edge spot color available, white.

omg who would intentionally do such a horrid thing to a scrown....

I'd consider a 5ct also to reach a bigger audience. With all respect, for international selling... don't incorporate a dollar sign. Just the value.

I know the spot pattern is on lock down, but what about a solid chip thrown into the mix. The 0.05 chip as @Chippy18 mentions would be nice. Is a lack of spot pattern the same as deviating from the prescribed stop pattern?

Not necessary to have a .05. Just use the 5 as .05 the 25 as .25 and the 100 as $1 etc.

Having the .25 for a “cash” set is important but if doing micro stakes you can adapt.

I'm pretty sure the manufacturer doesn't allow currency symbols on these anyways.

+1 for Palais
Always like these and the vineyards.. did someone make a knock off .. cherries that were similar to the vineyard. Perhaps I am imaging things.

Also the old legends of the west were awesome. I tried to get a full set and gave up.. sold off the partial set I put together.

I’ve been thinking and writing a lot lately about usability and poker, and have a few thoughts to splash the pot with here:

1) There are a surprising number of colorblind poker players. I would suggest testing color schemes to choose hues and weights which are distinguishable even by the colorblind (at least, the main types of colorblindness).

2) A good color scheme also helps players with perfect vision, e.g. when trying to size up an opponent’s stack or the size of the pot. But too often, I play in tournaments or cash games where there are two types of chips which in certain lights merge into one color (e.g. blacks and purples).

3) EDIT: NEVERMIND ------Colors aside, it also helps for chips to be distinguishable from their edgespots. Edgespots which vary across denominations are helpful; spots which are the same color or even different colors but the same shape don’t help much.------

4) Ditto labels/inlays. it helps when their shape or the design make it easy to pick out the value of a chip from a distance, as with the earlier Top Hats.

5) Typography should not be an afterthought. As a graphic designer, it really irks me when type is slapped on a chip without the involvement of a professional. But me being irked isn’t the important part: Using a skilled designer will greatly improve the legibility and the appeal of the chips.

Thanks for reaching out!

Hi,

I’m working on some inlay design that I would be eager to share here but I’ve question : can those chips receive a standard inlay or giant-inlay (like the Elite) a must ?

The inlay design I’m working on are supposed to be used as standard inlay.

312 white spots and giant inlays only.

OK thanks for confirming @BGinGA , I’ll anyway share my inlay design when finalized (this week).

So for my info, are those chips the « Gemaco Promo chips » rather than Paulson chips ?

Or maybe both use same formula...

Correct. Not Paulson chips, but promotional chips produced by the GPI plant in Mexico (as are the Paulson and Blue Chip lines), and sold through Gemaco (GPI owned) and their distributors.

We need your help!!!

We are trying to get some ideas for a new line of Paulson chips. The purpose of this thread is for you to let us know what type of art you would like to see.

The chips must have big easy to read denominations. We want to avoid anything that says casino, cardroom, poker room etc. A fictional name is fine.

Once this is ready to go we will have a new pre-sale with pricing at $.79 each.

Post some pictures of what you would like. Here are some chips I have always liked.

Just saw this thread. You hit the nail in the head with the OP. I would be VERY interested in simple classy chips without any theme....especially some type of “casino” “or card room”.

A redesign of the Paulson Noirs or something very similar in style would be outstanding. I like the large size inlay as well.

I think something in the Protege or Noir style would be huge sellers. I would own a lot more chips if there were more options like that.

So I think the « Elite » line is what you’re looking for.

Artwork is nice but they are a little too plain for my taste. I would prefer unique and colorful edge spots. That would be more attractive to me than label size. Paulson Noir is the most perfect non custom chip I’ve ever scene in my opinion. Protégés were a close second.

Coming back on this topic, I always liked the "Aladdin" chips and wanted to make some tribute to it.
So here's the design I've produced for a tourney chip:

For cash chip, I'd replace the "no cash value" with plain text value.

However, I'm not sure how it could fit as a "giant inlay".
