Hi!
Just wanted to check in and say hi to everyone. I currently live in austin texas for college but grew up in Canada. Brand new to the website but I already caught myself spending hours looking through tons of different threads. Got into poker a while ago but just recently started playing more again and got super intrigued by the variety of poker chips. I bought a dice chip set a long time ago and got a Monte Carlo set last year when I started playing a lot of poker again at college. After learning all the different chip materials and getting a couple sample sets (tiki kings and rounders), I’ve been looking around for an upgrade from the Monte Carlos. I love collecting things but definitely don’t have the budget to collect too many sets of expensive chips right now so I’m trying to learn more and really find a set or 2 of chips that I’d love the most. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum!
Absolutelly get samples before you commit to anything.
"Ceramics" may be an intermediate level if you are not currently prepared to spend $$ for "clay" (the latter meaning classic casino material).
For clay, a safe choice I 'd make as a beginner would be the off-the-shelf sets by Classic Poker Chips (CPCs), like the Atlantic Club, or the "Key West", offered by the name-sake business, also CPC-made. Both are vendors here.
It can only marginally get better than that, and whatever better, you 're going to appreciate through experience.
Paulsons are not offered to the public any more (it's been so for years) and I wouldn't embark on searching for any of them in the secondary market before acquiring lots of knowledge - and making friendships here. :)

Welcome!! Always a pleasure hearing more members joining with poker and chip enthusiasm. Hoping you enjoy your new journey, and make some great friends along the way!!!

Welcome, look around and ask questions. There's a wealth of knowledge of all things chip-related on this board so dont rush into buying the first thing that pops up or else you'll end up with thousands and thousands of chips.

Wow!! Thank you guys so much! I’m overwhelmed with all the help you guys are providing! I’ll definitely be sticking around and trying to learn more before I commit to anything. If I were to get a tournament set for a 6 players game, how would you recommend my stack distribution look like?

Assuming you want to know how many to buy total...and this would be my first time making a suggestion of this sort...as I am a host in training..I LOVE MOAR chips. I run mostly T10K Tournaments with the classic T25 base chip. I have recently learned thr ways of the T100 base and it's effing glorious. So...given you are new...likely a T25

I'd run 6 players with 12/12/5/6 (25s,100s,500s,1000s)

You need (for 6 players, let's say 8 to be growth proof) :

T25 x 100
T100 x 100
T500 x 60
T1000 x 100
T5000 x 20 (for rebuys)

I'm also a huge newbie and pretty dumb overall, I just stock my shelves with plenty to not mess up. Haha. As well, not sure if you do rebuys etc. That changes things.

But I think you could run freezeout tourneys with this breakdown.

Awesome! Would love to hear what your T100 base stack looks like! I love plaques so if you could suggest something with the 5000 denom in there, that’d be sick! Thanks again!

My bad! Didn’t see you actually had the 5000 denom there already.. nonetheless, would still love to hear it T100 base stack!
