Hello Everybody.

After a 5 year hiatus from the game of poker I recently decided to start playing again. The first step in the process was to hop online and order a new set of chips as my old set of "plastic dice" chips were left behind in a recent move. After checking out some of the options I continued my research and stumbled on this website. Immediately intrigued and enthralled I have been researching poker chips for the last 2 weeks. I am not sure how to explain it but I have found this chip world fascinating and feel compelled to spend way more than I ever thought possible on a set of poker chips. Instead of ordering a cheaper set of Milano's, that at the time I was perfectly content with. I have now decided a set or two of Paulson's is more appropriate to my recently refined tastes.

I was able to grab a set of 500 Horseshoe Southern Indian's off Apache this week right before they went out of stock! Safe to say I am super excited to get these delivered. I have already obtained a magic eraser and some Mineral Oil and will be trying to get them looking as new as possible. My goal is to use these for play and keep adding to the set while I research and locate a separate set for special occasions. I am drawn to the bright, festive, tropic style chips like the Sunset Beach, Isle of Capri, and Treasure Island sets for some reason.

Anyways.....I just want to say thanks to all the members on this site for providing so much information on the world of poker chips. I look forward to spending more time on the site and contributing when I can. I would also like to apologize to my wife and my checking account for what is about to take place. LOL

Thanks,
Blue Merle from Montana

Hello and welcome!

A couple years ago I acquired a set from a resort in Whitefish that used to have a card room, the Grouse Mountain Lodge. The city where I grew up and live in has a mountain that share the same name.

I have actually never been to Whitefish but those are really cool chips. There are a couple card rooms in my area (Bozeman) that I am going to check out soon. I am wondering what type of chips they will be playing with. This photo was found on this website of a chip from the Player's Club in Billings Montana that looks like it would be a pretty sweet set. I cannot find any photos of any other denominations of the chip.

Thanks so much! I work as a Fly Fishing Guide so almost all of my photo's have a river or fish involved. Here is a quick one.

Montana meetup coming!!! What’s the best time of year for a group of 10-12 to come for a fishing/poker weekend?
That is a good question and one we get asked all the time. In terms of the best fishing and weather June, July, and August are ideal. This is when the trout are the most active because of all the insects hatching and at the same time the weather is typically pretty stable. There is a draw back to that time of year as it is "tourist" season and it can be pretty crowded compared to other times of the year. An ideal time frame is right before schools let out for summer or right after they go back to school.

Spring (April, May) is pretty awesome fishing and has decent weather most of the time. With that being said it can be hit or miss with the weather. I have seen it still be dead of winter in April over the year. Great fishing though.

Fall (September, October) is probably my favorite time of the year but is not necessarily the best for fishing. But no matter what we can always catch fish. Lots of wildlife (Elk, Bears, Big Horn Sheep) running around this time of the year.

If you ever end up visiting let me know. I am actually an Outfitter and own/run a fly shop and guide service. We have about 25 guides that work for us. I trade Guide Service for "things" all the time. Most recently landscaping for the fly shop.

Welcome!
Spent summers with my dad fishing around Ennis, West Yellowstone and Henry’s Fork. That’s a beautiful, special place you’re in for sure.

A custom “Big Sky Casino” set coming? :ROFLMAO:

Howdy! Yeah, we love living here and are happy to be in the area. The Madison River is by far and away my favorite river to fish. I love the town of Ennis. Such a cool old school town.

A western style "Big Sky" set is definitely in the future.

Welcome. Idaho here!

Thanks! Idaho is awesome! I am so jealous of your weather in the winter. The older I get the harder our winter seems to be. I used to go fish steelhead in Orofino on the Clearwater River every fall up until a couple years ago. Used to eat dinner in the casino there and play blackjack.

Where in Idaho are you? Any poker rooms you suggest I go visit?

@BlueMerle welcome.

I actually get to go to the Kalispell area for a wedding in August
I used to go into Billings every other Wednesday

If you ever get to the neighborhood let me know. We run some games in Minot

Literally no poker in Idaho past my weekly game and some random card rooms. I'm in Boise but visit everywhere for work.

Try this, http://chipguide.themogh.org/cg_chip2.php?id=MTBIPC&v=57083981

There are actually playable quantities of the players club around our forum, held in sets by veteran chippers.
