Hello—new member here from the East Coast. Been lurking for a while now. Have played poker my whole life but only seriously playing in the past few of years, and only started hosting a year and a half ago. Since probably age 15 I've had the same set of Dice chips. I probably have 2k+ just from my friends and family gifting me a couple hundred here and there. They'll always have a special place in my heart.

Regardless, I found this place a couple of months ago when I was considering upgrading my chips after I finally upgraded my table. Like many I originally was going to buy nicer ABC plastics, then I was going to buy some nicer china clays, then some ceramics, etc. I finally bit the bullet and got 8 or so sample sets: Majestics, Milanos, Dunes, Nevada Jacks, Tiki Kings, Majestic Star Casino Paulsons, Atlantic Club inlays, and Atlantic Club Hot Stamps.

Absolutely adored the Dunes and the Nevada Jacks, I'd love a couple of racks of each down the road. Really liked the Majestic Star Paulsons too—not exactly what I'm looking for, but man they feel amazing to handle. But there really wasn't anything that compared to the CPC chips—they really are just absolutely jaw-dropping to see in person and handle. Considered buying a stock set of either the Atlantic Club inlays or hot stamps—they're both gorgeous—but decided if I'm going to spend the money I may as well see it through.

After a good couple of months (and some running hot at my local casino) I've decided to go ahead and design and order a custom set. Nothing insane, probably 500 or so chips, I mostly play cash games at a $50 buy, with 8-10 people max. Think I'm going to go with the CPC hot stamps—I adore the beauty of the simplicity. I have dreams down the road—when I have the disposable income to justify it—of buying a full 2k+ set of customs with specially designed inlays, intricate edge spots etc., just like the ones I drool over on here. But those will have to wait for now.

Thank you all for the passive help you've given just by letting me lurk, glad I finally created an account.

Welcome and good call with the CPCs - there's nothing better than a custom set of those! Even the stock ones are a great temporary option if you need time to think about a meaningful theme.

I recommend getting samples of all the molds as they feel very different. For example the A mold has a very rough texture compared to the circle squares.

Have mold samples and a full hot-stamped color sample on the way—if for no other reason who am I to turn down ~50 chips to have lying around?

Welcome!

And +1

For stock option molds both circle/square (Rounders set) and Horsehead (Atlantic inlayed set) are superior to the A-mold imo. The A-mold looks great but feels too rough for my taste. Don’t care at all for the timeglass and scroll molds.

Point is, get samples as you will get very different opinions on the molds here and the only one that matters is your own.
