Vegas, baby!
Hello all. Jim Follis here, posting as GamingOre. Some of you already know me, many more probably not. Once upon a time, I was an Admin on CT's, Collectors Corner. I joined PCF in 2020, but am just getting to making my 1st post. Glad to be here and hopefully I will be able to provide useful content here, as well as learn some new things.

So, I have now had an opportunity to read some of the threads here and in doing so, I would like to add to my "New Member" post, in the interest of transparency, as follows. My collecting preference is casino collectibles and memorabilia and gambling-related collectibles and memorabilia. I am always in search of nearly any item associated to those 2 collectible interests, and my searching knows no bounds. My "Gaming Ore" name derives from that passion of prospecting, as I am always looking for related gaming-related 'stuff'.

In 1998, on a chance visit to the The Orleans Hotel and Casino, that coincided with the annual Convention of the Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club, Inc. (CC&GTCC) for that year, I joined the Club. In my 1st 2 years I got to know 2 very instrumental Club members. Club Founder, Archie Black and Webmaster, Greg Susong. Greg brought me into the World Wide Web and Archie pointed me into volunteering for the Club. Over the years I have held many different volunteer and appointed positions within the Club, now referred to as the Casino Collectibles Association (CCA). At the current time, I am the CCA's Vice President (an elected position). I am also a Board Member of the CCA's Museum of Gaming History (MoGH) (as approved by the CCA Board) and have been confirmed as the MoGH's Vice Chairman, by the MoGH Board. For the CCA, I am also the monthly Newsletter Editor and Club Historian.

Within the MoGH, I have several responsibilities, primarily dealing with MoGH Exhibits and Events, as that entities Director. For the CCA's annual Convention and Show, through the MoGH, I am the Educational Exhibits Director. If you have been to any of the CCA annual Conventions, you may recall a special area where Club Members are permitted to Exhibit their collection or partial collection in an educational/informative manner. As the coordinator of that activity I solicit anyone's interest in showing off their 'stuff' this June in Las Vegas. Especially, large sets! (Hint, hint!) Also for the MoGH, I am responsible for the "Trail of the MoGH" Exhibits and Displays in and around Las Vegas. We currently provide content to the Mob Museum and have displays at the Plaza casino, El Cortez casino, Atomic Museum and 2 displays at Spinettis Gaming Supplies. We have previously had displays at the Neon Museum and the Nevada State Museum. Lastly, for the MoGH, I am a ChipGuide Admin. I am NOT in charge of ChipGuide, but as an Admin, I take part in Admin discussions on many ChipGuide issues and topics, some of which may also be entertained at the MoGH Board level.

I think that covers many things, unless I need to add more later (whew), but here on PCF, I am GamingOre. Gaming Ore is an individual that buys, sells, evaluates, consigns and collects casino and gaming memorabilia and collectibles. However, as I also wear other hobby-related hats, I am not adverse to responding to questions, topics and threads for those other hats, but I have no intent to be speaking out-of-school and, as possible, I may designate which hat I am wearing when I make a reply.

Thank you, Jim
