New Here! From Las Vegas (1 Viewer)

Seems like everyone has pretty much covered it. Welcome! So you’re new to the chipping/collectible world, do you play poker or adjacent games, or host poker home games?

I’m always curious how folks come across this little corner of the world, as it took me years of buying generic store chips before finding this! How’d ya happen to find us?
Well, I'm not sure if i can say it yet. They edited my initial post and removed the part that would answer your question.... But I'll follow you, and once I'm off 'probationary period' lol I'll message you?

I don't play poker but I love blackjack, and even more blackjack switch

Welcome to the site!!! Anything and Everything gets talked about.
Love it!

Welcome friend!! We are always happy to see new members from Vegas!! I would say the number one most sought after Live chips are the Paris $1, 2nd is the new kid on the block... the brand spanking new Blue Circus Circus $1, 3rd we get into opinions at this point but probably still the New Strat $1 but the news seems to be wearing off of those a bit... always popular are the Jokers Wild Orange Quarters personally I love their blue $1 chips as well.

For the most part I would say the majority of collectors prefer Paulson (Top hat and cane, THC) molded chips over house molds (chips that say the casino name imprinted in the clay around the inlay)... like many use these days... but that doesn't mean that specific chips aren't desirable! All of the above mentioned chips are Paulson's on their THC mold which is most desirable...most casinos that use these chips are wise to chip collectors which makes harvesting more difficult. That being said your hard work can produce some profit as these chips are in demand around the world!

I hope that you enjoy your own chipping journey with us and start working on your own amazing collection, and that this doesn't turn into just a part time harvesting job... in our classifieds there is buying and selling but also an amazing trade section that could also be utilized if you do decide on particular chips that you would like to collect... some members may be willing to trade for your hard earned harvested chips for ones they may no longer need! I think before long you will get the hang of it!! Also with spinettis ( hmm how to describe... like a poker chip and casino nostalgia pawn shop... but so much more!!) in your back yard... these guys have a ton of chipping knowledge and very friendly and helpful!

Well as always my short quick posts turn into books! Lol we all look forward to seeing what the future holds for you as you start your chipping journey!! Feel free to PM with any questions If you need help!! Fellow chipper Ben
Ok you seem like someone I would like to sit down to dinner with and close the place down! First; Thank you SO much for this amazing, well written and thoughtful description! I'm seriously floored. I am so thankful to have learned what you just provided! Second; I'm going to add (follow?) you and it would be a privilege to get some advice from you in the future

These are the new Circus Circus $1s that are in high demand.

Haha so funny and cool! I was there last week and had a bunch of them, but had zero idea they were beloved like that

Hello and welcome!

I, for one, would give lots of money to get 300 of those Circus Circus $1s, though not for myself, for a friend (really).
Well, I have to wait, and follow the rules here for a bit, but I'm always open to ideas!

I came here after they grey wall that once was hotdogsandwichrollersforum.com closed. I've found a few like minded individuals to discuss the ins and out of rolling hot dog sandwiches...
LOL so confused

Welcome Lynn,
You wouldn’t happen to be an employee of GPI by chance would you?
Asking for some friends.
Enjoy the new world of chip lovers that you have discovered. We are one big mostly happy family here.
So how many many many chips do you see daily and from where?
Again, asking for some friends.
Seriously though, welcome aboard.
I love it! lol Well, no i do not work for GPI, had to google it to see what it was. I actually only go near the strip when friends and family are in town and that's all they want to do. However, I have basically a revolving door, as someone is pretty much always "in town."

And seriously, I've never felt more welcomed into a new (virtual) community as I am here! Super impressed!

Welcome! Translated to LV two years ago.
Hi! Yay! A fellow local! You know it's funny, I also visit my best friend in Reno about every three months or so and we sit at the tables at atlantis for hours. I've never thought that anyone would care passionately about collecting chips. But now that I'm reading up on it, I kind of get it =P

The Cliff's Notes:

- new member from Vegas
- joined the forum, full of gusto for poker chips!
- offered to harvest chips for members
- took lots of money from lots of people for many "orders"
- started fulfilling some orders; seemed to have a decent reputation
- he started accepting more/larger orders
- then he disappeared from the forum for months
- came back, said he had some "life issues" he was working through and would "make things right"
- then disappeared permanently
- most folks never got their money back

I'm not implying you would ever do this, just giving you some background as to why some folks might be gun shy about sending cash payments to newer members.
Oh my WORD! That is crazy! Well... I can assure you that is not my intention... A) I'm ridiculously scared of karma, she is quite the b*tch, and B) I don't have time to keep up with that kind of scheme. I'm a single mom with a 1 year old DICTATOR that currently thinks it's cool to stay up all night, as well as throw his toys out the one window that doesn't have a screen in the house lol.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have friend... I am no pro and new to the hobby as well, but we have many members here and as a community I am almost certain we can come up with answers to most of your inquiries. I appreciate the kind response and look forward to the conversations in our future!! Fellow chipper Ben

You'll learn quickly to just ignore me...

Most do eventually...for some it takes several days or even a week.

The linked username does come up when you type '@' her username... And if you click on her profile, it says there is a problem.

I'll take the chips. They'd make a great $20 bounty, IMO. But not at $18/each.
