Howdy y'all!!

Been a long time since I've been around the Poker Chip world. I was on the old ChipTalk forum many years ago. I'm one of the last Faux Clay Nation members!!

I was digging around in a couple of little used closets the other day and stumbled on my old Faux Clays!! All 2000 of them! I then found my Nevada Jacks and my almost complete Pharaohs.
Been a long time since I saw them. Brought back a lot of good memories. Even found my old Modiano's. I'd like to get a game going again, but I don't think there's a lot of playing round here anymore.

I had forgotten how much I loved my Faux Clays, I was lucky enough to get all the colors, including the rare grays. What has taken the place as the king of the inexpensive chips?
I have missed a lot I can see, But its good to be back!

Welcome to PCF! Always good to find your chippies that have been tucked away and have those memories flood back!

Thanks folks.

the old group tried to get them made again for several years, but never were able to get it done. I'm kinda thinking about a non denom cash set of Nexgens, but they look like they are going away pretty fast.

And yeah, afc, it is a very relative term. If I remember right, the FauxClays were running.09/chip. And now it seems .30 is the cheap chip!
Maybe my stimulus chec k can point me to a nice set of Paulsons!!!!!

Welcome aboard @BadKarma … its preety cool to see so many veteran chippers slowly trickle back into the hobby. just goes to show how truly awesome this hobby is!!

$.16 is about the going rate of cheap slugged plastic these days. The $.30 market is definitely the cheap china ceramics that many are going with these days... an awesome textured finish and solid weight for the price! Low end Paulsons are around $.70 per chip in the sales, but as the denoms go up so do the prices obviously. even at Chip room sale prices now you are looking more $1.50 - $2 a chip range I would say for a playable breakdown of RHC chips. THCs seem to be unicorns anymore... doesn't seem very likely they will be hitting the market in bulk again anytime in the near future as casinos for the most part have got away from THCs, most choose RHC or House mold now.

You mentioned Pharaohs, are those the China Clay version or Paulson mold version. The Paulsons are fetching a pretty price these days.

I hope being around chippers again draws you back in, always need new members to keep the hobby growing!! Just a noob myself with just over 18 months in the hobby, but I welcome you to the site. If I can ever be of assistance please reach out anytime!

Thanks Ben. I've been forced to play with the slugged plastic and just can't stand the sound or the feel. I've pretty much decided on ceramics for this little cash set. I've got a full set of Nevada Jacks, but they are notorious for not stacking right, lots of spinners. I was sitting in dialysis this morning, I have to do this 3 days a week, cruising through Ebite and didn't find anything I liked, so the chip room will be next.

And yes, the Pharaohs are the Chinese Clays. Not as good as Paulsons, but serviceable. I like them a lot.

Yeah, I think I'm back!!!!! (John Wick)

ps: gonna work on pics this afternoon.

Are the Faux Clays the ones with the 6 dice around the mold? I also just "found" on old set of those I have labeled, including some greys (about 700 greys). Your comment about greys brought back a vague recollection about them being hard to find. I also used to have a tourney set of Pharoahs from the original GB on CT. Sold them to make way for some custom ASM's back in the day. Wish I still had them though.

Welcome to here. I just found my way over here and back into the chip game a couple months ago myself. Already designing an add-on to my ASM's and another set for a family member. $$$$$ but somehow I rationalize it.

Gray and yellow faux clay were the most difficult. White and red were the easiest, and black was pretty easy as well.

Yes, those are the ones, and yes, the grays were a bit tough to find. They went extinct rather quickly.

I think I'm gonna finish off my Pharaohs with quarters to finish my cash set. And build a NexGen limit set if they dont go extinct in the mean time.

I've got over 2000+ FC's. Even the very rare oranges. Sadly I missed out on the yellows. They were the hardest to get. Dying whites for yellows was almost impossible.

Sitting here talking Faux Clays is bringing back a lot of memories!!!

It's funny talking about it now. I have 2000+ also, and they are Orange, White, Grey and Yellow. With all those rare colors this set must be worth a fortune:)
