Hello from Paris!

After having owned (and sold) a few ABC chip sets over the years, I realized my house game nights need to be elevated with better chips ;)
I have been reading a lot of interesting materials on this forum, and followed Golden Rule #1 by ordering a lot of samples (Majestics, Royals, WSOP replicas, Ascona, to name a few).

I'm eagerly waiting for them, and in the meantime am curious to hear opinions on wether to go ceramics or china clay (cannot afford Paulsons... yet)?

Cheers

Romain

Don’t forget Matsui and Abbaiti as custom options- they both have EU based companies you can purchase from.

As for your question- how long do you intend to keep the set for? I played with plastic Super Diamonds for years and it worked well. If this is a transition phase for you, then I’d recommend either going cheap (save your Euros for the real set) or get something with resale value.

I'd like to purchase a set that should quench my buying thirst for a while... years for sure!
I am leaning towards a nice ceramic tournament set like the Ascona - which I could still use to play cash game using the denomination as cents (no dollar/euro signs on them, which is convenient). I've read quite a few posts in here describing China Clay as a weird in-between cheap and expensive sets. And in the EU, the royals and other CC are pretty much as expensive as the Ascona allready, which further pushes me towards the latter. But we shall see once I have these sampled in hand.

For a 400 chips set, I was thinking of this distribution:

- 125x5
-125x25
- 75*100
- 50*500
-25*1000

Perhaps I should trade 25 1000s for more 5s?

I never heard of Matsui and Abbaiti, will check these out as well, thanks!

The serve casinos as well- high end plastics. They will fill non-casino orders, but may have a minimum. There have been a few group buys here from each vendor.

By the way, since you live in France... Do you have any plug ins to score some Grimaud with jumbo index?

I don't, no... but they have an online store. Are these expensive? I usually play with copags, but recently bought some Fournier as the ace of spades looks gorgeous!

Unfortunately these are paper cards.

@fumagalli90 if you find any 100% plastic jumbo Grimaud decks, let me know!

I’ve been searching online retailers and classifieds (leboncoin) but no luck so far
