Okay, I've waited all weekend to post this cause I needed some time to let the initial excitement go away from my purchase. Here goes:

First and foremost, shout out to @Apache for having these available and getting those shipped to me in a timely manner. It literally took 3 days from the time I placed my order. I really appreciate that. My decision to go with the Dunes over the Majestics and Pharaoh's was one of simplicity. In addition to being a poker player, I am a golfer, this inlay has a golf green. The decision literally came down to the image for me. :)

The first thing that I will say about these chips is as soon as you get them in, go ahead and oil them immediately. Once I opened the box, the chips looked dull and faded, but I'm pretty sure that it's just part of the manufacturing process. Once I opened them, I went chip by chip and oiled the entire set, and it made all the difference in the world. I absolutely loved the outcome of the chips (pictured below).

As for the chip itself, I personally love the feel of the China Clays. It's not the most expensive chip, but it's well worth the purchase. They are insanely easy to shuffle over time (I shuffled all weekend and it got much easier as time progressed), and the weight feels great compared to other chips I own and have tested. For the sake of clarity, I tested casino chips Grand Casino Coushatta (Paulsons) from Kinder, La, Tiki Kings (Ceramics), Pharaoh's (China Clays), Monaco Clay Casino (Metal Insert Chips), Nevada Jacks (Ceramics), and Elites (from GPI). I must say that for the overall budget and quality, I feel like the Dunes were the best fit for me. The edges are more rounded rather than sharp (which I prefer ironically). I did notice while oiling that some of the inlays on the chips were not perfect, but I quickly realized that I like this aspect of the chip as well. Maybe this is weird, but the imperfection in some of the chips makes me a little more comfortable with the purchase. It makes them feel more normal. Almost like imperfections in granite. It just makes it feel more real.

I have yet to have a live game with this set, but we will be having our monthly poker game next week, and I plan on taking these babies for a spin. I don't know if this information will be useful to anyone, but I figured I would share my thoughts on the chip in general. So far I'm very happy with my purchase, and I'll get some pics of our game to post here so that I can show them in action.

Let me know if you have any questions in regards to these, I will do my best to answer.

I just sold my Dunes set Saturday to a friend who had wanted to buy them for a while. I used them a lot until I bought my clay sets. Hopefully I don't regret selling them. Enjoy your set!

Gosh, we've been playing with a friend's Majestics and I've tossed the old 500 non-denom striped dice set in the closet. I'm struggling to find what I want to build for a cash game set. And this is not helping my decision!!

@TonZaga Sorry about that lol. I messed around the classified sections for awhile and ultimately decided on the Dunes after vaguely window shopping. I’m definitely gonna get a nice set of high end chips in the future, but this suits my immediate need and feeds my impulsive side. Lol. I really like these chips.

@Frogzilla thanks bro. I’m really happy with my purchase.

On another note, I have to reiterate that no one should ever underestimate the importance of samples. They are extremely important to the buying process. And can save you money in the buying process. I know that Apache charges a restocking fee, so you’re better off just buying the sample set to see if you like them as opposed to returning an entire set and paying a restocking fee. At least you get to keep the sample set lol.

I just ordered Dunes samples from Apache the other day. What racks are you using? Are they fitting 100 to a rack? Looks like they might not be fitting quite right.

@TheWhiteJZ I have the brybelly racks. They are fitting 100 to a rack, but there is a little space in them. However, it's not enough space to fit another chip in the rack.

@johnnyesper thanks, I plan to do so!

Sorry guys, I’m just seeing these responses now. I used baby oil, but I let them sit in hot water for a minute and dried them off. They have yet to dry out. There’s an awesome article on oiling (I didn’t follow those directions) that some people apparently use, and it works awesome.

I've been agonizing over the Dunes vs. Majestic vs. Pharaohs and I think this post might have made my mind up. Quick question...when using mineral oil on your chips, what process did you use? I can imagine having a handful of lint free rags, one with oil and a few that are dry. Use the oiled rag on the chips and once the set is oiled, just wipe it off with the dry lint free rags. I would also assume you want to keep the oil off of the inlay sticker as much as possible, correct? Thanks in advance for your help.

Check out this post for oiling techniques. I use a rag with a small amount of oil. Some people choose not to use baby oil, but I like the scent (and I’m too lazy to go to the store) of baby oil. I don't find the scent stays long.

I will say that these barely see play anymore since I got Paulson’s and they have been in and out of the classifieds for a quick minute. Still own them, and they come in handy as a travel set. Depending on your price range consider looking at Paulsons unless you’re hell bent on China Clays.

Ahhh the good old days. Paulsons have taken over my life now. :ROFLMAO:

Boosting this post got me excited, I thought we were in line for a new Dunes option.

Same here. I gifted mine to a friend, who hosts on occasion. He was super appreciative and it was nice to have them in the hands of someone whom would appreciate and use.
(Plus I get to play in his games sometimes)
