Okay, I've waited all weekend to post this cause I needed some time to let the initial excitement go away from my purchase. Here goes:
First and foremost, shout out to @Apache for having these available and getting those shipped to me in a timely manner. It literally took 3 days from the time I placed my order. I really appreciate that. My decision to go with the Dunes over the Majestics and Pharaoh's was one of simplicity. In addition to being a poker player, I am a golfer, this inlay has a golf green. The decision literally came down to the image for me.
The first thing that I will say about these chips is as soon as you get them in, go ahead and oil them immediately. Once I opened the box, the chips looked dull and faded, but I'm pretty sure that it's just part of the manufacturing process. Once I opened them, I went chip by chip and oiled the entire set, and it made all the difference in the world. I absolutely loved the outcome of the chips (pictured below).
As for the chip itself, I personally love the feel of the China Clays. It's not the most expensive chip, but it's well worth the purchase. They are insanely easy to shuffle over time (I shuffled all weekend and it got much easier as time progressed), and the weight feels great compared to other chips I own and have tested. For the sake of clarity, I tested casino chips Grand Casino Coushatta (Paulsons) from Kinder, La, Tiki Kings (Ceramics), Pharaoh's (China Clays), Monaco Clay Casino (Metal Insert Chips), Nevada Jacks (Ceramics), and Elites (from GPI). I must say that for the overall budget and quality, I feel like the Dunes were the best fit for me. The edges are more rounded rather than sharp (which I prefer ironically). I did notice while oiling that some of the inlays on the chips were not perfect, but I quickly realized that I like this aspect of the chip as well. Maybe this is weird, but the imperfection in some of the chips makes me a little more comfortable with the purchase. It makes them feel more normal. Almost like imperfections in granite. It just makes it feel more real.
I have yet to have a live game with this set, but we will be having our monthly poker game next week, and I plan on taking these babies for a spin. I don't know if this information will be useful to anyone, but I figured I would share my thoughts on the chip in general. So far I'm very happy with my purchase, and I'll get some pics of our game to post here so that I can show them in action.
Let me know if you have any questions in regards to these, I will do my best to answer.
