Hi, I haven't been playing poker much recently but I am a chip snob. I think I've found heaven. Back circa 2007 I bought a bunch of casino de isthmus chips and love those. I haven't kept up with the chip world so I'm excited to see whats out there but googling is hard to find good info about good clay chips for sure!

Do people here use chips for board games too? I find its so much easier that paper money.

Welcome to the best place to find everything about chips, from another Chicagoan!

We play Michigan rummy/Tripoly with racks of Paulson chips!

First question... I have a bunch of $5, $25, $100, $500 and $1000 chips but no $1 chips. We used them for tournaments. If I can't find the proper $1 CDI 2005 chips, what would be a good clay that's more readily available to combine with my chips?

Nice to see a fellow south suburbs guy.
I see your avatar as I'm wearing a Cubs sweatshirt, lol. To be fair I haven't had much time to follow them the last few years due to being busy with kids. I'll catch part of a game or read a new article about them, and I don't even know the players anymore, so sad. Of course, the kids are the same reason I haven't played much poker I suppose ;) At least we can get behind the Bears together, well maybe not with the way they've been playing lately! I've watched maybe 4 football games this year. Luckily, I saw the last 2 Chiefs games live, what a rush.

Get ready to not know even more names on the cubs, if they even have a season (really pissed about the lock out and already told my season ticket rep that if there is even a single game postponed, I’m done as a season ticket holder and will be getting a total refund).

Funny poker story...
My wife and I went on a 14-day Baltic Sea cruise for our honeymoon. It was perfect; however, we were not the usual demographic for this cruise! Most of the other passengers were older and had money. There was one poker table that they had added into the casino area, though you could tell it was not part of the original design. It was kind of shoehorned in over by the bar which meant it was in the only place you can smoke on the ship. When the game actually ran it was the best poker game of my life. These people didn't really care about the money they were playing with and were terrible. The biggest problem with them was they called way too often and for way too much, which meant we showed down a lot. At first, I lost a bunch and my wife sees me over at the cage buying another $500 in chips. She was a little very worried having never seen me play outside of small stakes home games and I told her these guys were terrible and this is probably the best game I've ever played in. By the end of the cruise, I paid for all of our day trips with money I won. It was great. She did start watching a bit and chatted with some of the wives as it was mostly the men who played. Without knowing too much poker she could see they were terrible. I wish I could go back to that game, I wouldn't need a job!

My souvenir from that game. Makes a good PCF avatar for now!

I remember getting the choice of Sox or cubs tickets for perfect attendance in school growing up. Always chose Sox. Apparently they also have them out for straight A grades so I got even more because my sister never got a B. Old Comiskey was insane. I was there (5 years old) when they clinched it in 83’. I was crying because my parents wouldn’t let me join the stampede of fans that stormed the field. I remember people leaping down the walls in center field. Had to have been at least 15 foot wall.
Let’s go White Sox!!

I bet you could find some on here with a little patience. Try a wanted ad. And perhaps @Ben8257 could post some pics of his modest collection for inspiration

Lol, I dug up the emails from when I ordered them in 2005, 650 chips for $699 and then another 350 chips for $400 in 2007. :) My friends loved them but thought I was a bit nuts for spending that much on them then. I mean we played $0.05 / $0.10 and $10 tourneys. Really kicking myself that I didn't get the $1s then! Also, I was single and had way more disposable income.

I also bought a set of those back in 2005, from Apache. The $1/chip price was crazy. Awesome chips, wish I still had them!

My earliest memories were the all star game and Greg Luzinski and Ron Kittle hitting roof shots. Was always a special day when that happened.

Hopefully in a few weeks I can update with the complete tournament set photos. So close now.

They definitely pop up now and then, just takes patience.welcome to the forum @Dude great taste in chips sir!

What the actual?? How many players do you have chips for?!?!
We run a meet up every year in October in Ohio.

The Hope's are to get to 50 but covid has held numbers down... we had 29 last year I think, but it is 20k starting stacks and half price unlimited rebuys. They had one guy rebuy 9 times 3 years ago. I also like a lot of chips in play so we run 16/16/12/12 starting stacks. That game is what the set is built for but obviously available for any large games. Also future proofing as everyone seems to be going to T100 based. Just ordered the final order of Octagons ($5k and $25k)

Final Tourney set breakdown will be
(1000) 25
(1200) 100
(1000) 500
(1000) 1000
(900) 5000
(500) 25,000
(100) 100,000
(30) 500,000
(10) 1,000,000

This is the high denom plaques

Cash set is built for two tables but still a work in progress.
