For those not on the magical email distribution list, I just got an email from TCR announcing a new presale on some pretty sweet-looking hotstamped TH&C chips from a new casino. Since I don't see anything here I assume it's up on the "other" site...

I like the look of the singles and hundos. Minimums pretty much force you into a full set, at least for the presale.

Jim says they've been in play less than 3 years. The spot colors don't strike me as amazing (but could very well be better in person than the scans.) Those stamps look awesome though.

I've always wanted a cool hotstamp set. The only thing stopping me from dropping a boatload on them is I'd have to CLEAN them (and cleaning hotstamps sux. )

I just happened to be looking at new posts on ct and Jim had posted a few minutes prior. I am not on any email list and I have never been able to get in on any chips so I went ahead and ordered a small set with out really thinking about it. I went with 300 chips (30/.50, 100/$1, 100/$5, 40/$25, 30/$100, plus a sample set) just to have a small cash set to play with. It came to like $195 or something with shipping. The spots aren't my favorite, and from what I just learned above (thanks Ben, I'll look up how to clean them, with out your comment I might have just started scrubbing) cleaning hotstamps is more of a hassle....but it's only 300 of them and it works out to about .65/chip for a casino from my home state, hotstamped, and Paulson goodness. Not horrible, right??

Like I say, I didn't really think about the breakdown or anything, I just figured I couldn't get hurt that bad. Plus I'm not quite sure how fast these sales go, I've heard the legends of how fast stuff sells out and didn't want to take the chance of not getting some.

Now that I think about it though, I want more .50 chips. Need to find a way to make that happen.

The minimums pretty much force me out. I'm not buying 1000 chips so I can get 100x $.050. I'd like a rack of those pinks... to use for something... but I'd have to get a rack of $1 and $25 to go with it. No thanks.

I'll watch this one from the sidelines.

Shipping price guide for Canada:

1-133 chips $29.95

134-666 chips $52.95

667-800 chips $82.90

801-1333 chips $105.90

1334-??? $158.85

I think the shipping price for 667-800 chips is really weird considering it costs pretty much the same to ship 500 chips as 700-800 in a flat rate box. I've eaten that excess charge enough times. Hopefully this helps others.

I think he sends up to 800 chips per large International flat rate box.

The $5s look great, the other ones... not so much. I would have liked to get a set like 240 $1, 240 $5, and 160 $25, but the limits combined with the odd disparity in shipping price between 667-800 chips made me hold off, or rather fiddle desperately with counts to find a breakdown I could live with until it was too late.
