The Key West's new logo Certified Perfects Dice by Midwest Game Supply and J5 Design are now available.
Available in red or blue, they're $12.95 per stick to PCF members. PM dennis63 here on PCF

Making the dice:

When we got our first shipment of Certified Perfects dice from Midwest Game Supply in March, Sam at Midwest mentioned that they can also engrave a custom casino logo into their dice and fill the engraving with a gold colored material that is the same mass as the dice. The dice stay perfectly balanced.

In mid-March, I contacted John at J5 Design and floated the idea of making some Key West logo dice. Midwest limited the design to one color, so putting palm trees in the background really wouldn't work. I suggested we do the casino name it the signature font used in the logo, Coronet.

For placement, I did a rough sketch (below, left). That evening, John sent back his vision of the dice, below right: (This is why you hire a professional like J5.)

My first rough mock-up (above, left), and J5's finished illustration of what the dice would look like (right).

John sent the artwork file to Sam at Midwest. The following day, they drew up a few sets of proofs that looked like this:

I approved the artwork, sent a check, and waited....

While waiting, I took John's image of the "two" side of the red dice, copied it, then copied, pasted and moved around some dots to make images of the remaining two sides you'd see on a 3-D image. Then I used the 3-D rotation function in Word to get a 3-D image of a Key West logo dice (above, right). Copy and paste it twice, then do one in blue, and you get the image at the top left.

Four weeks later...

Midwest worked their magic and the dice arrived yesterday afternoon. They're Certified Perfects dice, 3/4-inch (casino craps size), precision-balanced, polished finish, razor edges, flush spots and serialized. Each stick of five carries the same serial number, just like our regular Certified Perfects dice. And these have "Key West Resort & Casino" engraved in the "2" spot.

Photos don't really do them justice, but here is a photo of the red and blue dice with the Key West 2 side showing:

The first photos in the OP showing the actual dice were pretty bad. I replaced them with newer photos this morning.

I ordered two sets and just recently received them. How come there is no Key West engraving on either set?

Jon:

You ordered and received your dice before the ones that say "Key West" were made. I didn't expect those to arrive until May 1, 2018.

In January, I ordered a shipment of Certified Perfect dice from Midwest Game Supply. Those dice have no Key West logo on them. They arrived six weeks later, on Feb. 22. On Feb. 23, I posted about them here:

In post # 15, @bsdunbar1 suggested making some dice with the Key West logo on them. After that, I got some PMs about adding the logo.

I placed the order for the logo dice on March 15, and expected them to arrive the week of May 1, 2018. Production at Midwest Game Supply was faster than expected, and they arrived, unannounced and unexpected, on Thursday, April 12.

You placed your order on April 8. It was shipped April 9, before I had -- or could offer -- any dice that said Key West on them. I did not expect these to be here for another two weeks or more.

PM sent.

Dennis

On pricing for these dice:

Just to be clear with everyone, $12.95/stick is essentially a "group buy" price to PCF members. These will be offered on the Key West site later today at $13.95 per stick.

I ordered 100 sticks with the logo from Midwest. If we did an actual group buy, where buyers cover the actual cost of their dice, their shipping and PayPal fees, I'd need to charge $0.58 per stick more -- $13.53 per stick, plus $3.50 shipping, on one or two sticks, $3.75 for three sticks.

But the members who buy these will (mostly) be people who have Key West chips. I wanted to keep the price reasonable -- something under $13 for members here. $12.95 sounded good.

On this shipment of logo dice, I covered the $58 loss to get the logo put on 100 sticks. It's a one-time expense and it builds the relationship with the manufacturer. Several manufactures, when I call and say my name, they don't immediately remember me. But when I say, "Key West," they immediately know who I am.

The Key West logo dice are something I've always wanted to have for myself, so it's no big deal. I think of it as, "The Key West logo dice that I keep for myself cost me an extra $58 to add the logo."

Key West Logo dice and plain Certified Perfect dice:

I still have Certified Perfect dice in stock in Red, Blue and Green without the Key West logo. If you don't need or want "Key West" on some nice Certified Perfect dice made by Midwest Gaming Supply (a real casino manufacturer), those are still available, too, at a special price for PCF members that's less than my actual cost.

The switch to Certified Perfects

My previous supplier sold me poker chip racks and dice. There was a problem with one shipment of racks, and the supplier appears to have switched manufacturers. He wouldn't answer a question I had, so I stopped using that supplier. I was out of dice, and sought out new suppliers for racks and dice. For dice, I found Midwest Game Supply and realized they are the only American dice manufacturer.
