The Key West is now offering "fun night" play money for poker and casino parties. This is the latest item added to our list of products actually used in the casino industry.

The bills:

The bills are full-size and two-sided, and have a green tint that's a bit darker than regular cash. (They actually look a bit more green than the photo above.) They're nicely done by a company called "Learning Advantage."

Fun night money in the casino industry:

When I took the blackjack dealer classes at the casino where I work, we used this brand of replacement cash to learn to place money correctly on the table, count it quickly, handle it and lock it up correctly. (We mostly used $20s and $100s at the training tables.)

And whenever a new casino opens, they run the first week or so using fun night money and chips to test the dealers, managers and systems. Casino party companies use this type of currency, and I'll be using it to teach a blackjack class later this month.

At home...

Fun night money could be used for a casino party at home, work or charity where each player gets a fixed amount of fun night cash for their buy in, or can cash their chips and bid on donated prizes. And a stack of fake $20s or $100s could represent the prize in a large tournament display.

Denominations:

$1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills

The offer: A special price for PCF members:

The $1s, $5s, $10, and $20s come in packs of 100 bills each for $2.79.
The $50s and $100s come in packs of 50 bills each for $2.39.
and a mixed pack of bills (35 x $1; 25 x $5; 20 x $10; 15 x $20; 5 x $50 and 5 x $100) for $3.79

plus shipping, as usual.

This price is below the retail price suggested by the manufacturer, and less than what they charge on their own site It's a special offer for members of the Poker Chip Forum with more than 50 posts.

To order: Send a PM to me, (dennis63) here on PCF.

Scanned images of the bills, front and back. For
some reason, the $100 bill scanned lighter, but is
the same color as the other bills.

Questions and answers:

Q: Who makes this stuff?

A: A company called Learning Advantage. They also make toys, and offer this play money to help kids learn to count money.

Q: Does it look like real money?

A: It's made to look like money, but the tint is darker than real money. You would not mistake it for real money on your poker table.

Q: Does it feel like real money?

A: No. The only thing that feels like real money is real money. The fun nite money is a good quality paper, not coated. It wears nicely, and feels better as its used. (The used stuff at the casino training academy was heavily used, and was about as easy to handle as real money.)

What size are these bills?

A: Exactly the same size as real money.
