trying to clean some chips, is there any kind of cleaning chemical that I can use that won't hurt the chips. there's a lot of black stain on the edges of the chip that I can't seem to remove. I'm using soap detergent and brushing it with a toothbrush and it won't come off. Thanks for all your help.

Magic eraser and warm soapy water works great. It's a bit of a tedious process if you have alot of chips to do. I would also say dont soak them too long in the water. A little bit if water can sometimes get under the Inlays with a long soak. 30ish seconds should be good and then scrub them with the magic eraser.

I usually soak them for a minute or two. Never had a problem with them. Make sure the water is nice and hot.

Just picked up some MGM detroit fracs. Is it safe to use this same method with the large inlay, house mold labels? Would you use the magic eraser on the face as well, trying to get into the mold? No risk of dulling the color or eating away at the clay?
Magic Eraser (melamine foam) is an abrasive (albeit super fine). It won't dull the color, it just removes the dirt and bit of material.
You can use it on the face to remove the dirt from the recesses of the house mold (or standard Paulson molds).
It doesn't "eat away" at the clay per se (no chemicals contained in the pad), but a very minute amount of material is removed during use.

For paulsons I am amazed at what Lundmark TSP (sodium meta silicate) can do. Basically a table spoon in a bucket of water. Dump 20 at time in the water. Quick scrub each chip with toothbrush, rinse and done. Not as fast as ultrasonic but same great result.

Tsp is not safe for CPCs.

I would also like to clean my Paulson chips. In Norway we don't have the magic eraser nor Sterling Magic available. Any other products that might do the trick?

They’re called Flash Magic Erasers in the UK. You should be able to get them from Amazon if you can’t find them locally.

Sorry to say, Magic eraser didn’t do anything for me. If cleaning casino used chips, might just have to seetle for warm/hot water, Dawn dish soap, and a toothbrush.

Will a magic eraser harm hotstamps?

Probably. The only way to know for sure is to sacrifice a spare chip. Although magic erasers are very fine abrasive, they are still abrasive and hotstamps aren't known for their durability. When I was new at this, I learned to protect the hotstamp with my thumb if I needed to clean the rim with a soft toothbrush. I've only used magic erasers on the rolling edges. If you try it, let us know how it worked.
