I have come across a poker table that came out of a local casino and am wondering if it is worth $450. I would use it as is for the time being until I can afford to make some changes to it.

It appears to be in good condition. The top doesn't really show any wear and there are only a couple scuffs on the rail. The legs are very sturdy and heavy. The top appears to be 1 1/2" thick, I am assuming 2 sheets of plywood stacked. I think it will look quite good as it is with a little cleaning.

Any input would be appreciated and I am really just trying to find out if there is $450 worth of materials for a "to build on later - but use now" project.

I can see the covered chip tray getting to be a pain in the ass. Further, for that kind of money you could probably find as good or better on Kijiji or Craig's list, to say nothing of retail.

Looks nice but as Milo said the chip tray would be a pain. I built my table for way less then that so that's an option too if you want to try and build one yourself.

I have built a table in the past too and the one I build cost around $300 but it is not nearly as nice, as big, or as well built as this one. I plan to modify the table to my liking so I am just trying to get some input as to what the casino table would be worth and if it is worth modifying it myself.

I have also been checking craigslist for around 4 years and have looked at many tables finding nothing that compares to the build quality of this one. I am not sure about eBay, there is no way to know what the build quality is if you can't look at it before you buy.

Here is a picture of the table I built around 6 years ago.

You're probably looking at a table that was two grand when it was brand new. $450 seems pretty reasonable to me, that's roughly have of the material costs (new) for what's included in that table. You already know the rail comes off, so it'll be easy to change the felt or redo the rail in the future if you want to. Removing the chip tray is pretty straightforward as well if you really don't like it.

Thanks everyone, I have decided to go ahead with the deal and the guy that has it has agreed to a trade and is going to deliver it to my house. I think it will work great until I decide what I want to change on it, colors etc... I think the chips will look good on it just the way it is for now.

Congrats man! It definitely looks like a well built table and if/when you decide to modify it the way you want you'll have a great starting point!

Sweet! Do you plane to take out the chip try and that box next to it? It that a card shuffler or money drop box?

It is a money drop box and I thought I would want to remove the chip tray but now that it is all cleaned up and in the house I kind of like it. Plus it is made by Paulson so that has to be worth something. I even like the black and gold now that it is in the room, I really think all I am going to do to if for now is change the felt and the foam under the felt, I am not sure what the casino used but it seems too soft to me.

The tray is probably not so bad when the cover is removed. Can you post some more pics of it?

I really like. 100x better looking cleaned up and in your place.

definitely a nice looking table and a helluva deal to boot!!!! congrats on the score!

but unless i had a dedicated dealer for >90% of my games the dealer cutout and tray would tilt the hell out of me....jmho.

One thing that would be kind of cool about the dealer tray is have all the color up chips and rebuy chips in there with the lid on and locked. Then when its time to color up chips you just exchange them out right there etc.

When I was messing around with it last night I had the same exact idea about using it for rebuys and color ups.

I couldn't leave it "just the way it is".

HAHA ... Awesome! I will be following this. :)

Just a thought.. Maybe do the sanding outside? (probably already done now though)

I would like to do the sanding outside but the table is too heavy to move and I don't want to take the top off again if I don't have to.

How did you plug the holes? Pics please.

I only plugged one round hole and I didn't take a picture but I made a round plug out of some plywood, screwed a small board to the bottom of the table and glued the plug in the hole then filled the leftover spaces with bondo and sanded smooth.

OK. When I looked at your pics, I only saw the first two so it appeared that you plugged the dealer chip tray and money slot. The third pic must of loaded after I scrolled down to reply.

I figured since you are doing all this, you were going to plug them. :p

I actually like the dealer tray. I like the idea of having a place to keep the rebuy and color up chips. I am changing the casino chip-money drop to a slot and plunger and I will have to wait to do anything to the rail until I have more $$. The main reason for the changes was due to the fact that the casino used too soft of a foam under the playing surface for my liking.

Gotcha. Thought maybe you changed you mind about it.

I got the new SSC today

Here it is with the new cloth and some nice new chairs. I don't think I could be any happier for the little $ it cost me.
