I did this set of 1,000 chips about 10 years ago after wining a local charity tournament. My wife is a graphic designer and was cool enough to help me design the insert. I picked the colors. Cool point is that I wrote to Pabst asking for permission to use the natty boh man and they granted me an official license at no cost. I have played with these chips for many years and really enjoy them.

The chips do not have denominations on them But I went with a color scheme that would be recognizable to most players so I could be flexible with tourney / cash games.

Now I am flirting with getting a cash set! We'll see....

I'm curious about these details. Did ASM refuse to print the chips because of trademark issues, or were you proactive in seeking a license? Did they request documentation on exactly the breakdown you wanted, or do you have an open-ended license to use the logo (could you add on a new denom without getting additional permission)? Do you just have a letter, is it more like a contract, is it notarized? Is the license limited in any way (like a time limit)? I assume you cannot sell anything you have made for a profit.

I wrote to Pabst proactively. ASM was appreciative of that as they endeavor to protect trademarks and such. The license granted via a letter from their attorney. The understanding was that the license was for one set of chips for personal use, meaning I was not making multiple sets for resale.

Pabst reviewed my design in advance and The only request they made was to note Boh was a registered trademark which my wife added in very small fonts. The experience with them and ASM was excellent.
