Mystery chips found in attic rafters (1 Viewer)

Hey all,

I am hoping someone out there can help me. I have found a large case of poker chips in the attic rafters and I am hoping to learn more about them. They are in a leather(or faux leather case), have three colors and have metal inserts with what seems like a Susan B Anthony image..? I have had poker night with these chips and I always get compliments from my "Kinda semi-pro" poker buddies. But I have never learned about them. So does anyone recognize them? Appreciate your help!

Edit: The case weighs about 32 lbs.

I've never seen a Morgan head CIC Bud Jones chip before. Someone who knows more about BJ chips will know.

From the marks on the lid of the case, I suspect the set was purchased with that chip count - last row was always short. They might have kept a few quarters for blinds or cashouts in that spot, or maybe dice.

But yes, there's definitely some value - Bud Jones CIC chips (Coin In Center) are traded. But you'll need someone who watches those kinds of chips to know how much value, or find some comparable past sales. You'll also need your chip counts, because the size of the set obviously matters.

Seems like a pretty rare set to me. I have always heard Bud Jones makes chips for casinos only. Maybe these were made for a casino, maybe not? Very cool nonetheless!

Harlequin posted a set of 100 on the blue wall a while back for $250. Not sure if they sold at that price, but these really don't seem to be super common. Didn't find anything else searching for Morgan Bud Jones. They could make really good NCV chips for casino CIC sets with super rare or non-existent high denoms or fracs.

Someone placed a bid and the auction ended at $800.00 TBH I didn't think they would sell. I remember seeing these on eBay around the early 2000's. No one ever knew the story around them but I've seen them hit the market from time to time. Congrats to the seller. Pretty sweet find.
