My wife's first novel is available from Harper Collins Press as of today.

Check it out at her website or Amazon, Audible, or Barnes & Noble etc.

The Art of Crash Landing is a funny book about a foul-mouthed, sarcastic, "hot mess" of a protagonist. While it's not autobiographical, the sarcastic part didn't fall far from the tree.

Tomorrow we head to Austin, and Houston for book signings. Next week she's off to Dallas, then OKC (where we grew up) and last a booksellers convention in Denver. While she's been beating the social media thing pretty good, if you live in the area or know people who do, please come on out or send your friends. I worry that book signings for first-time authors might be lonely events.

Feel free to pick up a copy or two. They make great gifts.

(end of shameless brag)

lots of people self-publishing these days and telling everyone they're "published". not many able to actually get into a real publishing house. big congrats to the missus, L! hope it's the first of many.

Congratulations! Good luck with sales.

(But I hate it when the Kindle version costs more than the print version. Publisher-enforced pricing is enough to hurt book sales all by itself...)

The pricing seems to change by the hour. I agree that it makes no sense but it's up to Amazon.

Preordered months ago and downloaded mine this weekend...made good progress on the train today.

Just bought the kindle version for my wife; she's the reader in the family.

After buying 1000 1400 chips for myself over the past week on here, I felt I needed to balance off my PCF related purchases a bit :)

My wife was really discouraged/frustrated by the last 4 books she started - so much so that she didn't even finish them (which is rare for her). So I decided to try to right the ship and gave her your wife's book earlier than planned. She loved it. She couldn't put it down. :)

I love hearing that. Tell your wife that the story is not autobiographical but the smartass nature of the narrator is..

Congrats to your wife. I love hearing of successful publishing stories. Do you have any more info on the Denver signing? I didn't see it listed on the events section of her website.

Congrats to your wife! That's very cool Leonard. Will be picking up a copy...

Congrats!

If I was a reader I would pick it up, but the only thing that I read on a consistent basis is this forum!

The Denver event was not actually a book signing. It was "speed-dating" for writers at an Independent Booksellers conference. There were 10+ representatives of independent booksellers at each of ten tables. An author with a newly published book was assigned to each table. They had ten minutes to convince the booksellers to feature their book and then the authors rotated tables. It was called "Books & Brews" as there was beer involved. As it was not open to the public, it was not on her website.

I think this is the second book in 5 years that I ordered in hard copy lol. Maybe someday I'll get a chance for Melissa to sign it. (y)
