A while ago I posed about these Bodog promo chips I'd found for £10 for 300, which was a steal as they felt really great, with sharp edges, stacked well, shuffled well, a much better cheap chip than dice. Plus they had labels that were easy to remove.
After messing around with lots of designs I decided to go with something really simple inspired by this beautiful old chip from the Clermont Club in the UK:
Thanks to Gear for setting up the template for me (I ended up fiddling with the position and colours for hours!).
I was able to get a really cheap (basically free) print deal through my work, however it got a bit annoying as they were taking ages, and as I have a game on Tuesday I wanted to get these printed quickly. I found a local company who could turn them around quickly and cheaply, about 750 for £30.
The labels came out fine, although I wish I'd got them just slightly smaller as they are the exact size of the indentation, so it was hard to apply them exactly. Some not so perfect alignment, but hey it just adds to the budget feel of the chips! The labels are no where near the quality of the Gear samples I had but when I decide to relabel a quality chip I'll definitely go for a quality label.
Here's the final product:
Breakdown is 100 x 10p, 100 x 50p, 100 x £1, 50 x £5. I went for a 50p chip instead of a 25p chip so I can play 50p/£1 limit with the set. (I've also got 2 more boxes of these as blanks just in case I needed more).
Combined with some vintage casino £ plaques I've now got a really nice semi-custom cash set for under £50! Proof you can enjoy this hobby on a budget. Very, very happy.
