what all do you grow?

Farming always held a strange curiosity for me.

Whenever I find myself sad at work I say out loud, "I always should have been a farmer or painter."

I can do neither so I don't know why I say these things :)

Nice! My father-in-law has a small farm (150 acres or so) that he works himself for corn, wheat, and soybean. It was a bit of an eye-opener for this city kid. He also has a pump machining business, and my youngest son has learned a lot about things like metal lathes, etc when we visit.

Sweet my soon to be brother in law works on his family cattle farm in KY...about half of the 4000 acres is row crops for the cattle.

My great grandfather was the last farmer in our family...sad.

Great Question. In Iowa Corn and Soybeans are King and that's primarily what we grow. I also raise about 12,000 head of pigs a year that we market and use the manure for fertilizer.

Iowa is diverse agriculturally as a leader in egg production beef poultry and other commodities beyond corn and beans

4000 acres in Kentucky is a very large farm

Any livestock or all crop farming?

I grew up in a small town near Dubuque, IA. A lot of kids from small dairy farms in my class. Once you realize how much unrelenting work that is, you can't help but have tremendous respect for them.
