Ran across these pics of my first quality chip set. I bought these 04 I think. ASM only offered the 312 edge spots at the time and the following year I think they added the 3D14. Its kind of funny looking back now, knowing I was a chipper without having a clue that was a thing. We used this set for about 11 years before @David O brought me to this sight.

those are awesome, what happened to them? these were my first "customs" from the same time period (not my actual chips, but same group buy, photo credit @gpc ). i also did not realize i was a "chipper" at the time.

I was following HPT back then and I had to decide between TRK or ASM, hindsight should have went TRK then CPC now.

Mine became the first of my Soapy's chips.

So what were these called originally? Something with "North Star" or "Dipper" in the name?
No name, I wasn't thinking about casino or card room names back then. The inlay was an after thought. I just wanted a casino quality tournament set. It was either the big dipper/north star or a just a single star.

Definitely. One of the weirdest things about moving to Florida has been the almost invisibility of both dippers and the North Star, very near the northern horizon. With buildings and trees, you can rarely see them.
