So I just started renovating my new house yesterday and I thought I’d start this thread to document the progress of my poker room build.

It will probably take 6 weeks or so to finish, because we are ripping out a number of walls and rebuilding them throughout the rest of the house and unfortunately the poker room can’t take priority.

First pics of the space, it’s currenty a “play room” open area and separate bedroom. I will be knocking out the bedroom wall, to create one large space for the poker room.

It seems difficult to source chairs here in Australia, so I went for the cheap and cheerful option. I do however feel they are somewhat appropriate given they are going in my “man cave”. Who said fake blue velvet isn’t classy  .

I also snagged some drink trolleys, since I don’t want spilt drinks on my chanman felt.

So I’ve not had a chance to get in the future Poker room yet, because we’ve been really busy renovating the rest of the house, but work finally starts today.

Stud wall currently going up for the new entrance and the wall and window in shot will be coming out and replaced today.

Whoa. Was the house built as a bomb shelter? That's a lot of cinder block.

Even the North American Space Association (NASA) has been transitioning to metric:cool:

There's plenty of space for hell of a nice table there!:)

Honestly. The U.S. was transitioning to metric in the 70s until Reagan came along. I think it is on us to translate from imperial to metric when the other 99% of the globe is on the superior system.

Going to be one kick ass poker room.

#subbed.

Is this gonna be a 1 table space or more?
I’ve got a custom Chanman felt, so I’ll be building my own 10 man table, with solid base and putting it right in the centre of the room.

It wouldn’t fit 2 tables and I only play cash, so a single 10 man table is perfect.

You 've got the space there to make it a wantonly roundish oval (something like 140x225mm or 55x89in) so that everybody can see everybody:)

But if he has a felt already, the table dimensions might not be up for debate...

Sure, that can be an issue.
But I think Tony likes to provide for a large board & pot & muck surface (in relation to the "racetrack" surface around it) anyway, so it could fit, with a large rail taking up some peripheral space too.

Actually, for me, this is the part of contemporary design poker tables that I generally *don't* like. I think rail illumination, however it's done, should be subtle. There are a few too many examples out there of stuff that is just garish and distracting. I prefer none, myself.
I love Chan’s aluminum diffuser. Almost every one of these looks stellar to me, but I’ve seen straight raw lights that exemplify “garish”.
