Me, again. I really just can't shut up around here, can I?
Anyway, in the autumn of last year, I had a crazy idea. I thought, "Hey, this chip hobby/addiction of mine has really morphed into something interesting! How about I try to collect live chips from various casinos in Las Vegas and around Nevada as a birthday present to myself for my 50th at the tail end of 2019?" In that fit of insanity, the BOLO project was born.
First, thanks to @liftapint for a bit of inspiration from her BOH project (of which most people are aware). But since I'm not nearly as baller, I thought that I would do a Barrel of Live Ones, hence "BOLO". It's a 2-parter: one goal would be representative chips from 50 casinos from Las Vegas proper, and the other goal would be representative chips from 50 Nevada casinos outside of Las Vegas. In the 6 months or so since starting the project, I've gotten 33/50 Las Vegas and 29/50 Nevada complete, just over half-way! There's pr0n, of course:
Big thanks go out to @Davism72 for helping to harvest EVEYRTHING in the bottom picture, which are casinos in the Reno/Tahoe/Carson City and surrounding area. Many chippers have also contributed to the Vegas collection above, either through direct request for harvesting (many thanks, fellas!), or by cherry-picking through Classified ads.
I will need much help in trying to finish this project by the end of the calendar year, so part of this post is also an informal appeal to anybody who is heading to Las Vegas or other parts of Nevada, or to people who know people that live in the area, to see if they can help me gather barrels. Of course I will pay face value plus reasonable fees. PM me if you think you may be able to help out. Please also PM me if you happen to have barrels of live $1s to sell. Just so I don't get killed on shipping, I'd much prefer if 3+ casinos worth of chips could be done at a time.
I'm particularly looking for chips from the following casinos:
anything from Henderson
anything from Laughlin
anything from Wendover
almost anything off the Las Vegas Strip (try me!)
from Las Vegas Downtown/Fremont area: California, El Cortez, Main Street Station
A few icons from the Strip: Circus Circus, Stratosphere, Tropicana, Palms as well as others nearby
basically anything I don't have
I don't have very strict criteria. The chips don't need to be mint. The chips don't need to be clean. The chips don't even need to be consistent style in the barrel. As long as all the chips are live, and all the chips are $1s, and they aren't broken beyond recognition, and there's 20 of them per casino, then I'm all good. Clay, plastic, ceramic, they're all fine with me. This project doesn't really discriminate based on composition (but does, in a way, discriminate based on design, ahem, looking at you Linq, SLS, Cromwell, ).
Let me know if you're in the area and can help out. I'll try to update the thread monthly as any new acquisitions slowly come in.
