Musing the future of quality CLAY poker chips (1 Viewer)

I always thought that was one of the big advantages of true clays...how hard they are to counterfeit.

I have these as a 10k tourney set. Also, my two ceramic sets were from Gary at Unique.

Always loved the Private Cardroom china clays. Would love to see pics of your two Unique sets; I always thought his Jubilee design was pretty cool.

Agreed!

If I recall, the Excalibur in Vegas changed their regular poker room to these tables. After a year or so, they went back.

If I knew I HAD to play on one of these, I'd bring a stack of chips with me... mostly to keep my hands occupied but also to serenade the other players with the lovely sound of shuffling chippies!

Sweet, and thank you! Don't remember the 5000 and 25000 denominations, though -- did you have Gary do those up as customs?

wondering what effect this is going to have on the cost of current paulson chips that are circulating....

Long-term (and maybe short-term, too), I think average selling prices will go up slightly on Paulson home sets (and prices will remain strong on Paulson casino sets, too).

I think the days of seeing used Paulson home set chips for 60c-80c/chip are over. Likely that prices will inch back up to $1/chip or more, depending on the specific set and condition.

The 5k and 25k were add-ons a couple years ago. Customized the colours on the T25, the T500, the T5k, and the T25k.

Excalibur switched back, but now the LV Plaza (Downtown) has gone to these electronic nightmares.

Personally, I would not be surprised if casinos don't all go completely electronic someday. Upload/download cash to/from your club card, like a debit card. One piece of plastic usable on every table game (craps and roulette are going electronic now), and every slot machine. Way cheaper than buying chips, better chance of money never being "cashed out" by frequent visitors, fewer personnel needed.

Get your gambol on now, while it is still fun...

Here in Ontario, a LOT of the casinos are using electronic game tables, and not just for poker. Talk about taking the fun out of gambling.
