So whilst talking with the wife about the solid THC tourney set I want to do, she suggested that it would be cool if I designed a chip with each chip representing an animal we saw on safari.

Who am I to argue with such a great idea, and i think she realised her error as soon as she said it. However I’m told that as long as i use bankroll or chip funds to purchase them, I’m all good.

Early days yet, and it might not work out since most African animals are fairly bland colours. Nethertheless, here is my first attempt. I’m kind of excited already.

n order, chameleon, zebra, giraffe/leopard, hornbill bird and elephant? Hard to figure out a final chip.

Design now locked in.

I like the OP zebra chip a lot more. Plus with versions 2 & 3 you end up with 3 chips in a row all with a 4 spot pattern. Like version 3 chips #5 more than the other versions too.

Cool theme. Are you going to use actual pictures of the animals on the inlays?

Top elephant (w pink) preferable. Pink. btw, is a nice sweetener for all pachyderms  .
In my view, 614 is ivevitable / mandatory for zebra :)
Very nice concept, as a whole!

Thanks @Coyote and @Rhodeman77 for the feedback. Updated again. I’m having trouble with chip 5 and matching it with the rest of the set. Pink I’m calling elephant or hippo (pachyderm lol) but I wonder if pink is too close to the dg tiger on the blue chip.
Orange version is the treehouse we stayed in on our last night with the orange as lanterns. Heard lions roaring at 2am so that was a cool experience.
I have no idea about inlays. I thought about a basic Bellagio style inlay, but I might use that for the tourney set.
I also thought about a white background with a small black pic of each animal, like below. No idea where the denom would go.
Who did your inlays on the treehouse set?

Possibly, "Motswari Game :) Room" plus denom on one side of the chip, and animal silhouettes on the other (I would do it white on black - but that's me).
To make things harder, I know the King is not spotted, but can you omit Him? (yes you can, I 'm just kidding)
Edit: No issue between DG Tiger and DG Pink in my view

Suggestion for inlay background colour: Don't go all white or all black. Use something that brings in the natural colours of the savannah.
Any font used should not be script, or have serif or swashes. Blocky. Or something that would look carved.

@Perthmike Btw, it is absolutely imperative that you get a color sample to see in person, before you spend big.
Colors appear differently on each and every screen, differently in daylight and under various temperatures of artificial light. I was amazed when I received my color sample and this DID change my pre-sample decisions.

Definitely agree, but I have a cpc set which has a bunch of the colours I need and a few other chips lying around, so I’ve got a fairly good idea. I’ve owned a couple of other asm sets as well.

How do people feel about the inlay on all of the chips. Is it a problem that they aren’t colour matched?

Nice design. Not color matching is definitely not a problem. If I did color match, I would only color match the denominations. The only that hits me as having significant room for improvement is the color of the sky. The yellow seems to clash a bit with some of the chips.

Thanks, @p5woody has the skills to knock out great designs at breakneck speed it seems. Im loving his inlay idea right now.

I think it might look better if I opt for the slightly smaller inlay though. This is the actual current version, although it will say motswari lodge. And have timbavati underneath the denom.

I like this version better with the Game Room placed below the denom. Do you need the word "Private"?

No the private part isn’t needed. It was more of a placeholder at the time trying to fit the words in different places.

The place is called motswari private game reserve. I’m thinking motswari game room or card room.

@krafticus each chip will have it’s own corresponding animal.

I would experiment with dropping the "private" then to enlarge other aspects of the design to see if that looks better. Definitely "game room" > "card room" for this set

Also, are you doing the animal on the inlay for each chip, or 1 inlay for all chips?
Here they are with the correct animals and colour matching.

What are people’s thoughts on the denom colour. I’m thinking it would have to be either red or white.

I may still switch timbavati for game room. Unsure yet. I like the idea of timbavati, as it’s kind of the equivalent of having Las Vegas at the bottom, which most casino chips have.
