Monte Carlo vs Casino Royale Poker Chips (1 Viewer)

By Casino Royale, do you mean the Cartamundi produced chip based on the production design chips used in the 2006 James Bond movie?

I'm a big James Bond fan, so that would be an easy decision for me. But the truth is that the actual chip quality you get at this level of budget is middling at best. Usable, for sure, but as soon as you get a feel of some better chips you'd be ready to forget these quite quickly. These are slippery slopes, my friend, so delve into this hobby with your eyes open and your budget solid.

I owned a set of Casino Royales (from Apache, the James Bond 16 cent/chip). For the price, they were really nice chips. Stacked well, looked cool. Of course they are really heavy, but so are the Monte Carlos. I wound up selling them (on this forum) a few weeks ago just because they were heavy as bricks. I don't think there's a huge quality difference. If you like bright, glittery, flashy looking chips, go with the Monte Carlos. More subdued, unique style, go with Royales.

I owned both sets when I first upgraded from dice chips. Although I'm a big James Bond fan, I would vote for the Monte Carlos.

For a cash game the Casino Royale quarters and $5 chips were a little too similar looking and that bugged me. For a tournament set the $25 and $500 are both very dark making it difficult to distinguish between the two. But the Casino Royale are available in higher denoms, 25k and 100k chips, and Monte Carlo only goes up to $10k. You could make a nice Casino Royale tourney set that starts with the $100 chips and avoid the $25/$500 dirty stack issue.

All that being said, I sold both sets and upgraded to Dunes and Pharaos, then sold both of those sets

I owned a small set of the Casino Royale's years ago. I really liked the design but that's the best thing
I can say about them. They are just too slick to play with. IF you found this site; if you want something
better than dice chips you might want to keep looking.

I can second that :) - the Casino Royale chips were my first chips after Dice (and I really liked them as I am a die hard 007 fan), but keep looking to get some better chips :)
