Hey Chippers. I was looking to get a sample set of the Monte Carlo Poker Club chips from Apache but they are no longer in stock. So has anyone tried the smooth Monte Carlo chips from ThePokerStore.com or should I just wait until they are restocked at Apache? My biggest criteria is that I don't want chips with rough edges. Are the edges really smooth as advertised on the Poker Store website (see link below)? I noticed the coloring was a little different than what is offered from Apache, but I don't think that will matter that much. Any advice is appreciated. I am coming from using the plastic red/white/blue chips from the 70s. So any modern chips will be a great improvement for me. Thanks in advance.

So I can't speak for that specific site or the Apache site, but I have played with these chips; Smooth Monte Carlo, twice before. This was before my PCF days about five years ago.

I liked them! They are "sluggos", but I liked them. My only complaint about them was the t100/t500 were too close in color. If you get the ones you're looking at, I would get the t500 in white.

Hope this helps!

What they say “smooth edges and shuffles better,” do they really mean the edges are rounded or beveled?

Not sure as I haven't handled them in awhile. I do remember the ones I handled had smooth edges, but I never tried to stand one on end. I had some claysmith chips that had the flashing around the edge. I'm assuming it means that these don't have the flashing and are probably rounded a bit like a casino used paulson.

In regards to shuffling, I've never had an issue shuffling bicycle tires or mint paulsons.

Yeah I still have the same question. Would love a Monte Carlo set with smooth edges. The ones on The Poker Store . Com are a bit more expensive then from Apache. What did you end up doing?

They are an ok chip. Some of the edges can be sharp but not too bad and they dont look as good in person i would say especially the $5. I bought a 600pc set and was pretty disappointed. I would suggest getting the 13.5g monacos on thepokerstore.com they look better and feel way better and more smooth and you can get 1000pc set for $220. Alll in all tho the monte carlos are fine

You ordered from thepokerstore.com? How fast was shipping?

Yes. Gosh i really dont remember that was over a year ago now. You looking to buy a set? Iv bought many sets since then and can help you find a nice set
Yeah I am going to host my first home tournament April 8th and I saw the "turbo" tournament set on thepokerstore that I liked the look of. They seemed like a good price at .40 a chip for ceramics but am not sure how long shipping times are. Any recommendations?

My stuff from them always gets delivered by UPS. When you place your order, they send you an email. Open that email and read it. If you reply to that email, you can have them place the order immediately. They normally give you 30 mins to change your mind before they place the order. Not sure if it really makes a difference, but if you are ordering near the end of the day, I would do it. You can also reply to that email and tell them you need your stuff by a certain date and he will make sure he gets it out that day. If anything is wrong with the order, they take care of it quickly. Very good service.

If youre wanting fast delivery thepokerstore is a good option. Brpro has long shipping times and apache is hit or miss at times. Iv bought thepokerstores monte carlos and the classic poker chips. The turbos are new and i think possibly the best looking set they have. If you want one last opinion search on here the turbo set snd youll likely find results of people reviewing them and discussing if they like them

Played with them last night. They’re currently our chips. I have a shipment for a recent group but incoming but recently fell in love with China Clay Greek Mold and bought a 2100 chip lot that I’m doing a custom label for. It will actually become 3 different sets when it’s all said and done.
