How do these compare to other Paulsons such as Top Hat and Canes? I am a noob to chips, was wondering if these are the real deal or not.

The Gemaco brand Monaco chips are real clay chips made at GPI's factory in Mexico, using the no-markings lammer mold. Diameter and thickness are the same, although their weight is slightly less than most casino Paulson chips. The chips share the same white 312 spot pattern, and have oversize inlays.

Pretty good deal for brand-new mint clay chips imo.

The World Top Hat & Cane chips were produced on the Pauson suits mold, and have smaller standard-size inlays.

Get samples.

Thanks. I made it through the first thread. I have samples in hand now, I like em, but I have seen people say the large white edge marks are an issue. Is that actually going to cause potential problems in game or is it people being snobby? I really like the feel of the Monacos but I think I prefer the design/colors of the Majestics.

love me some mint paulsons...amirite?! ;)

GPI Monacos and Majestics are apples and oranges. Different compositions, different physical properties, and certainly different costs. Some don't like the uniformity of the white 312 across all denominations, some don't really care. Some don't like the heavy sound of the china clays, some don't really care.

Although, having said that, I don't think I've ever really come across anybody in this forum that has said, "Gee, I really can't stand the look, feel, and sound of real casino THC Paulsons - I really prefer a 14g slugged plastic chip." Or maybe they have been run out of town before I ever got here...;)

I own a large set of the PCF promo chips and I've never had an issue with the white spots. Some people just don't prefer the aesthetic.

FWIW the quality and feel of the Monaco/PCF/Elite chips is vastly superior to China clay chips (Majestics), IMO. If the all white edge spots don't bother you from an aesthetic standpoint I fully recommend them.

Thanks for the input. When I initially felt the Monacos vs the CCs the instant answer was the Monacos. Then I got on PCF and read posts. I slightly prefer the aesthetic of the Majestic but I think I go with feel/quality over aesthetics. I will say that the Monacos are super unique so they have that going for them.

Imo, the Monaco chips are significantly superior to the Majestic chips in every category -- feel, sound, quality, (arguably) looks, consistency, and durability. They also cost more, but as in most things chip-related, you get what you pay for. And in the case of the Monaco chips, to improve upon the only two theoretical downsides (common white spots and large inlay) would cost a LOT more money.

Thanks for the input guys. I played with the samples some more and I just cant say no to that square edge of the Monacos and the sound they make. Im 99% going for the Monacos now.

I just got a set of Monacos and really like them! The only negative I can say would be the standard white spots but I also kind of like them in a way. They are a good change from a ton of edge spots. At least for tournaments or a change of pace. The feel is great IMO and I like the large glossy label. They feel quality. They are light though so don't expect a heavy Paulson feel.
