Lets say I have a set of PCAs with 300x$5 and a set of HSIs with 400 x $5 and my game gets big enough that I really need to play with 600 x $5.
Is it ok or not-OK with mix the PCA $5 and and HSI $5 in the same game to get to the required number of chips?

Sure its OK .... mixed sets are all the rage now. As long as the colors are close and there's no chance of any dirty stacks with another denomination

Ok cool. Thx - when I think of "mixed set" I was thinking mixing but having all of a single denom from a single casino. So like all $1 from PCA, all $5 from HSI, all $25 from PNY, etc.

Glad to hear that having chips from multiple casinos for a single denom (i.e. mixing PCA $5 and HSI $5) wouldnt break any "rules" as long as the colors work :)

Some might have OCD issues with mixing different chips with same denoms. At least make sure colors and pretty similar.

If that base color is roughly the same, then its fine. Now if you had Flamingo Vegas $5's and mixed them with Aria dark red $5's, that might tilt some people :)

If I run out of Mirage $5's, I've got some others to mix in and its not an issue at all (I would prefer all to have white labels to match but I can deal)

My opinion - as far as sets go, that totally breaks the “rules.”
But if you’re in the middle of a game and you need more $5’s, hell yeah, grab what you’ve got and put them in play

Fuck the rules, there are no rules. Only tilt.

I have 2+ racks of leaded THC mold hub-inlay $5s from various casinos -- and occasionally use them all in our 25c/50c game. The base colors include all of the various shades of Paulson reds and pinks, along with a bunch of yellows and a few greens and blues. Might be a brown chip or two in there, too.

If it tilts the players, so much the better. Wrap your head around what's important. If players are gonna bitch about being forced to play with real leaded shaped-inlay casino chips, fuck 'em.

Would I want to do it all the time, no. But if I needed to short term for a game or a few until I was able to get more of the same chips needed I would.

I ran out of $100’s (I only had 20) for my Tonks set when I had it. So I used some other black $100’s I had as well. They worked fine.

Lol, you don't have to be a PCFer to get tilted about chips. I have a couple who OCD on spot alignment, making sure every barrel is either lined up perfectly or creates some pretty pattern.

You should see their faces when they realize that eight out of every ten chips have not only different colors, but different spot patterns. :D

I use Lady Luck $1's mixed with red Cherokee T5's....guests don't mind at all....they don't even notice the Cherokee chips are NCV....works just fine!
