My budget Paulson Inception set (mixed set within a mixed set) is almost complete, and I’m trying to find a nice $20/25 chip to complete the set.

I’m hoping to find a chip on a different mold; any suggestions?

Fracs - THC Club Cal Neva roulettes
$1 - full mix of ~10% solids, ~20% house molds, and the rest RHC/THC
$5 - RHC Argosy IN

Feel free to flame away if you hate the idea of a mixed mold set; I’ll take the free bumps. All thoughts & ideas are appreciated.

I’d prefer $20s with the set, but don’t know if I want to go the relabel route. What type of chip is the HS Cleveland - RHC or THC?

Hey. If it works for you, do it! Loads of people have mixed mold sets. Everybody is different. If you can get around the OCD issues. I'd say you have an advantage over most. You'll be able to pair many more gorgeous chips together than those with any reservations.
Cash use = $20
Tournament or table game use = $25

I'm joking on the re-label. I just prefer 20's myself.

....maybe I'm NOT joking!!!

Agree with both of you. OCD only kicks in when the condition varies greatly between denoms (which is why I’m avoiding “worn” chips).

I’d prefer $20s myself, but don’t want to limit my options.

Did Paulson ever make $20 denoms on its Suits mold?

Are those 1’s different from each other? I like the color variance of the spots.

I say chipping is making yourself happy with what you got.

I am still building a "Paulson's chip" mould mixed set. It started with Classics, got a few. Then I wanted Pharaoh's, got a few. Everyone hates the Paulsons chip mould but me it seems. I quite enjoy it. Then I realized there is no $5k denom in the line, so I added WTHC T5ks, goes great actually. Different mould entirely but who cares. Then I had not enough $100s to felt it. So I got a bunch if $100 05 CDIs. I'm a newbie...I don't mind it. All the denoms are correct. The chips are so mixed but the colors are all the same. I added $5k Pharaoh's plaques. I'm so excited to receive my last rack to complete it. It's probably the ultimate sacrelige but it makes me happy to look at them.

Happy mixing man!!!

I love the millions of different $1s

Question for the group: why $20s for a cash game. I am planning to get 25s. This break down for a one table 1/1 game:

200 x 1
200 x 5
80 x 25
100 x 20

Will almost never use the 100s unless we do a mini tourney.

Probably a matter of preference, but I feel like $20s can be better for smaller stakes if players buy-in in multiples of $20. For a $1/$1 game, you’re probably better off using $25s I would think.

You mean 20 x $100s, right?

Couple of possible reasons:
  • Some people like $20 chips because it's the same as real currency, just like $1 or $5. But - since $25 is more common as a chip, I've had a few instances of confusion when people bet a $20 chip and thought it was $25, but that has happened rarely.
  • If using one set for both cash and tourney, some people like to have a $20 cash chip and a $25 tourney chip so your cash and tourney chips don't overlap (for security purposes aka getting 8 T25s in a $40 tournament, but then pocketing two to use in the cash game as $25 chips).
  • $20 vs $25 - means MOAR chips....because of math...
  • You can make a $20 a nonstandard color and it won't cause people to tilt as much. Often times green is synonymous for a $25 chip.

I also love that you have all different 1s that's a cool idea. Shipping singles must of been pricey.

Your set looks nice!
I thought about using white chips first but then decided to stick with blue.

I am building a 300-piece-set with different blue $1-chips.

They are all house-mold, all from Las Vegas and all got the same base colour.
They stick perfectly together!

I will even add $2-chips to the set.

And...in the future....perhaps some $3 or $4 chips? (It's just a fun set).

There is that many different house molds?

There are a few that I have with more than one barrel (Aria, MGM Park, Golden Nugget), and I have both blue and white based chips.

I just loaded the chips into my trunk for my game tonight so will likely miss some but here is a list:
Aria
MGM
MGM Park
Harrah's
Mirage
Planet Hollywood
Golden Nugget
Orleans
The Cosmopolitan
Four Queens
Sheraton Desert Inn
Ameristar

I purposefully stuck with house mold so I wouldn't go broke buying all the Casinos ;)

Are your HPs not worn? Mine are bicycle tires.

Most are in good shape, 6-8 are casino used quality, but none are bicycle tires. Which is why I scooped them even though I already had a THC chip in the set.
