What’s everyone’s thoughts on mixed matched chips for cash game. What I’m meaning is different styles with naturally the same denominations so like one kind for $.25 and so on for other denominations is that unprofessional and goofy or what are your thoughts.

So. Like a mixed one set? It's been done, and some people love it.

Ya like one brand of one and so on Just seems like I can’t quite get all of what I’m after or can’t afford it. Just curious if guys do it or if people are like WTF you talking about

It can get even stranger. Some can use different chips even within one single denomination, as long as their composition is the same, and the base colour is the same or incredibly close. For example: a mixed set with all white (or blue) $1 chips, but from a variety of Las Vegas Strip casinos (live).

When you say “brand” do you mean casino name, or chip manufacturer?
If you mean casino name - that’s common. Many people will put together a set using Paulson THC mold chips from casino A for their $1s, Paulson THC chips from Casino B for their $5’s etc.
Much less common is mixing different brands or chip types in the same set - for example, clay Paulsons for $1’s and ceramic Chipcos for $5’s. That is indeed considered goofy, but the truth is that there actually care some casinos and cardrooms operating like this.
but bottom line, do what you like. If you like goofy, go for it. And it will still be ten times better than the plastic crap people buy at Walmart.

I think mixed sets are awesome. They permit the set builder to be creative and potentially wind up with a one-of-a-kind set. My first Paulson set will be mixed.

Many of us build mixed sets. Mine is in the top 3 of my sets. The flexibility they offer is what makes them so appealing. And when you find another chip you want to use you can. Then you you potentially have the start of another set. ;)

One of my sets is mixed. Like a lot of what everyone’s saying already, the biggest advantage is for sure the flexibility but also having a better chance of finding what you want in mint/better condition than most casino sets. The mixing and matching also allows you to color scheme your set to your preference.
