Mixed Cash Set In Progress (2 Viewers)

Yea for that reason red fracs are a no no as you almost certainly want red 5s. A bit of an odd colour to use for a frac.

You might need to keep a watchful eye on the classifieds to score 1-2 racks of fracs.

Makes sense given the CA colors. Blue $1, yellow $5, etc.

Yea eyes peeled! Sucks that I missed the Main Street Stations in the classifieds by a week.

Thinking about investing in a mixed cash set by buying some gorgeous 1's and 5's but nervous about piecing the rest together. Any regrets from those who have done so?

No regrets at all. The advantage of a mixed set is your ability to continue evolving it over time as you find better/different chips. I think mine has had over 10 iterations in the past 3 years. Go for it and enjoy the process!

Never imagined I would build a mixed set, but it has been a really fun process. Mixed sets allow for a lot creativity that a non-mixed set would otherwise restrict. Finding the right edgespot, color, or theme combo is really rewarding.

Mixed sets are great. I feature my best mixed set after the tournament is finished at The Divide each year. It is a work in progress always. Right now we have Player's Club 8V fracs/Flamingo spotted birds/Golden Eagle 5s/Aztar or King 25s/Empress 100s/PCA 500s. We will also throw in a few special odd denom chips to tilt those with OCD. I like the Cedar Room $11s for that...

I have a new $1 chip in mind to replace the spotted birds but need to find a willing seller. :)

No regrets but it takes time. The easy part is buying nice 1's and 5's. The hard part is finding fracs that look good and match your set. Finding fracs in good shape and in quantity is pretty hard. A good option is just find some chips you like and relabel them.

Personally, I have never seen a 10c chip that I like. There are many nice quarters and 50c pieces but again hard to find in bulk and in good shape.

Nice. I bet you got a good price on them too. They always seem to sell for cheaper than comparable $5’s

It was these or PCA secondary $5s and the price on these made it a no-brainer. Plus I really love how the $5s and $100s work well together with gold edgespots.

Do I keep the Rio $1s or swap them out for King’s Casino $1s I have coming?

It depends. How much would you sell the Rio $1's for? :)

seriously though. I like the white ones a lot better with the set. Its a better contrast to the other denominations.

I wouldn’t like having the same spot pattern on the $1 & $5 chips. Plus the King’s $1 and the Empress $5 share colors, could make dirty stacks.

Excellent points. Didn’t really think about the same edgespot pattern, it does bother me.
