Not sure how deep to go tho. Anyone have any extra labels they don't need to experiment with?
7/8 ?I can look. What diameter, and are you looking for laminated?
7/8 ?
Awesome. Let me know and I will pm my address.I should have some extra textured laminated 7/8" labels. I'll confirm when I get home.
Ya that's why I was gonna grab a few labels to see where I need to be. Thanks for the info Gear.Yes, you are looking for laminated.
IMO half of the point of milling a chip is to smooth or remove the hotstamp; the other half is to make enough depth to accommodate a laminated label.
The second pic looks a little too deep (although too deep is better than too shallow.)
Interesting. Thanks for the tip!just a tip. when the time comes to mill the other side you'll have to slip a dime in to the milled out center. Reason being pressure combined with the heat generated is going to push that thin center into a concave that actually expands and doesn't contract.
Drill pressAre you using a drill press? or do you have a router/dremel setup?
then heat is your enemy. I tried this more than a few times. It can work but it takes a very sharp endmill, a very good drill drive, and time. Small moves and gentle pressure goes a long way.Drill press
Awesome. Let me know and I will pm my address.
