Hi everyone!

I'm going to buy my first cash set (500 chips), and I already have the design of my chips.
Starting stack will be $10 or $20, max 3 rebuys for usually max 7 people (min $560 bank)

Max Buy In Starting Stacks

10 x 5c (50c)
22 x 25c ($5.50) // 18 x 25c ($4.50)
14 x $1 ($14) // 15 x $1 ($15)

Chips Needed - 500 Total Chips

100 x 5c ($5)
160 x 25c ($40)
140 x $1 ($140)
80 x $5 ($400)
20 x $20 ($400)

Total Bank: $985

What do you think? I need some advice because I play almost all the time tournaments, and I've only played cash with the same chips a few times.
In addition, I think I don't need $20 chip, but I love chips, so I want all five denominations :)

Thank you!

The $20 works great for rebuys. Hand them one and they can make change among the other players.

When you say max 3 rebuys, is that you don’t expect more than 3, or that you are going to limit the amount of rebuys?

With cash, generally people can rebuy the maximum amount when they bust out…or top up to the max at any time.

If you want to increase the number of players or raise the stakes, maybe your breakdown makes sense. The total of your breakdown would probably support a .25/.50 game with $50 buy ins. Perhaps more $20 chips for rebuys though.

Is this realistic for the future though? Are you playing with friends, and are they all gamblers (then maybe you all move up in stakes), or are you going to recruit gamblers and poker players for your game that want to play .25/.50?

If you aren't looking for more players or to move up in stakes, you'll have a whole lot of chips that never see the felt:

$60 (3 buy ins of 20) x 7 players = $420 bank.

I'm going to say a minimum of this. MINIMUM. MOAR CHIPS YOU FOOL!!!!

Yes, my intention is to limit rebuys, or total amount of money per night. It's a game for friends and family, no gamblers. But I'm thinking I'm inflation, that's why the total bank is double than needed

Yes! This is what I'm getting at...if 500 chips is your budget and you're not going to increase the players or stakes, get lots of low denom chips and just enough higher denoms for rebuys.
What is you proposal? More 25c and $1 and less $5?

It good to prepare a chip bankroll of at least 3 buyin per person and up to 5 buyin per person, I will not limit the family buyin to 3 thou when I playing micro stake

Micro stake are generally for fun and usually the worst loser will not lost more than 3 buyin in a regular night even thou the person may buyin 5 or 6 times

A standard 500 chips set breakdown for 5c/10c stake will be
5c x 100
25c x 200
$1 x 100
$5 x 80
$20/$25 x 20

Yes, I like at least 2 racks of workhorse chips as well.

My game started to get "serious" around the poker boom time and we still play the same stakes.

Maybe inflation will want to make you and your friends increase stakes in 10 years... By then you're going to be a jefe jugador con mucho dinero, right? Sounds like add-on order time from CPC!!!

Maximize chips on the felt now!!!

I've been thinking, and I think is the options I like:
5c x 100
25c x 180
$1 x 140
$5 x 60
$20 x 20

--> Total bank: $890

Thanks,
Carlos

looks like a decent start...I would advise on some "spares" of each denomination if this is a keeper set. Chairs can roll onto dropped chips, they can roll into a impossible gap in the wall, or one time guests can break them in half for unknown reasons....

looks like the actual breakdown you want is
5c x 100
25c x 180
$1 x 140
$5 x 80
$20 x 20

***then add 1-10 more of each denomination in spares. the extras are worth it, you will regret not having them if you need them.

Yes, I want to buy 5 chips of each for this reason. I hope it will be enough.

I'm too short of budget. My limit is 500 chips (plus 25 for spares), so I can't afford these 20 chips (without breaking my strict rules).
So, now I'm trying to decide if I choose 140 x $1 and 60 x $5, or 120 x $1 and 80 x $5.

I know, I'm really strict when deciding a budget, I've lost a lot of nice sets for this reason, but it's a position in front of life, I can't change it !!!

It good to stay within your Budget and 5 spare per denom is more than enough too when on a Budget

does it have to be 5 extra of each chip???

you could get
2- 5c
4-25c
5-$1
10-$5
4-$20

makes the spares functional if you need them.
