Michigan is stepping in the right direction! (2 Viewers)

Congrats to the residents of Michigan!

Doesn’t look like we will be able to play poker with the rest of the world though..

Should be okay, though. I've heard there are plenty of poker donkeys in Michigan..... ;)

I take my statement back..there was nothing in the bill specifically stating shared liquidity. Doesn't mean that it won't happen... I hope it does!

Hopefully it won't take Pokerstars too long to get get up and running for Michigan!

"The tax on online betting would be phased in starting at 4% and eventually increasing to 23%. "

How in the hell do you beat a 23% gov't rake?

Pretty sure the 23% is the tax on the company's profit, not a 23% rake from every pot. That would sure kill a game quick, lol.

20% of what?
20% of the rake?
In some of the proposals for legal live poker in Texas, the tax was based on the rake - and due to be deposited with the state comptroller within 24 hours.

I assume 20% of the gross revenues. The problem is casinos aren't just going to agree to make less money as the progressive tax rate increases - those costs will be passed on to the consumer.

So are we going to see rake and vig increases to offset the increasing overhead? Impossible to answer today - but one would surmise that's an inevitability.

I’m excited about playing small tourneys on the future “pokerstars Michigan”. I’ve only played play money on there. Is it a sucker move to play without using H.U.D.’s when playing for real $$?

My girlfriend lives across the boarder in PA so I’ve had access to PSPA for a couple months now. It’s a nice option to have to pass the time but the excitement wore off very quickly.

I shouldn’t complain as it is legal I suppose but it’s nowhere near the same :(

Do you play straight up or use a h.u.d.?

Nowhere near the same as playing live or nowhere near the Moneymaker days of online poker?
