Memphis? (1 Viewer)

Oh, and congrats! :D

Err... what? Something is rotten in Denmark.

Bluff City, TN is in the Tri-Cities area (far northeast TN, nearly on the NC/VA borders.) Collierville is a suburb of Memphis (nearly on the MS/AR borders.) They're about an 8-hour drive apart.

Apparently there is a Bluff City, AR as well but it is in the western part of the state near Texarkana and appears to be miniscule, so I'm guessing that isn't it. What did I miss?

We are going to Memphis proper no worries, just didn't realize there was an actual Bluff City in TN. Odd...I was just going by the most common nickname that popped up for Memphis across the internet. Similar to Windy City = Chicago. It appears like Bluff City is the most common for Memphis due to the fact that it sits on the Chickasaw Bluff. Maybe it never gets used, but either way I'll find out the truth in a little bit.

Huh. I've never heard it called anything but "Memphis," by residents or nonresidents. Must be one of those "we wish we had a nickname" things. As in how anything that site says for Nashville other than "Music City" is complete bullshit. ;)

Whew, I was concerned for your meetup when I thought it was being held in Tri-Cities - really hard to get there and I might have been the only attendee (after Paulo and DD got lost in the mountains  ) Memphis is much more accessible to places where people live! :D

Have heard Memphis called Bluff City all my life. Use to do a lot of business with these guys http://www.bluffcityelectronicsinc.com/ their main office is located out of Memphis.

Like any big city Memphis has its pluses & minuses. There are some nice places to live in the subs out E & SE of town.

Memphis was/is always a great place to visit, there is great food, music, entertainment & casinos right down the road. My Dad was in the Naval Reserves & stationed out of Millington Naval Base for many years when I was younger. So we made the trip quite regular when i was a kid, only a couple hours out. As I got older we'd hit the clubs at Overton Square and Beale St because the drinking age was 18 back then. Now we go mainly for the food, casinos in Tunica and the occasional concert.

GL with the move.
