@Ben8257 gave me the idea to start a thread where people could post a throwback picture or story about where it all began in their chipping journey. It could just be a pivotal moment or when the magic finally took hold.

For me I was in college back in August 2005. I was playing home games as often as I could, and more or less enamored all around with poker. I’ve also been a collector and obsessive with hobbies all my life so this was no different. I instinctually bought a lot of chip samples and quickly found out what I liked. Long story short, while others were spending their money on booze and restaurant food I saved and saved to buy my very first top of the line poker set: the Paulson ‘05 CDI’s.

Sadly, I later had to sell them for $ reasons, but I loved them so damn much! I’ve been wishing I had them back ever since. Believe it or not I bought a 500 chip set from Apache poker for $510 buckaroos, absolutely insane. Imagine if we had those prices today...

Here’s a pic of me feeling on top of the world with my new set:

Got into chipping after I decided I would expand my James Bond cocktail parties to include casino games, and from there, it was a quick step to charity fundraising. The lovely lady in the center of the photo is my friend and one of the kindest physicians I know, and she was the lucky first winner of the tournament besting everybody else at blackjack and baccarat. I'm the shiny one on the right.

I’m feeling nostalgic. Anyone else wanna share their throwback pics from when they first got into chipping?

When I got into chipping, a 1 megapixel camera was the bomb. It could take an image about the size of a thumbnail. Film cost money and getting it developed took even more time. If the lighting was off, you had to take another shot and had to wait until you finished that roll (usually a holiday or a vacation).

Oddly, I don't have many pics.
