Membership Poker Room in Texas (3 Viewers)

That makes sense about the casinos influence although you would think that Houston as the libertarian laboratory wouldn't care. Since the casinos make so little from poker you'd think they wouldn't care either but I guess they don't want any compeition for gambler's dollars.

I think it has more to do with Dallas and surrounding area being conservative whereas as Austin is not so much.

Maybe they are still worried about Doyle Brunson and Amarillo Slim. They only left Texas around 50+ years ago.

I do not believe so because it is happening in Houston as well. I might say it has a little to do about religion more than politics. DFW has always had a strong influence from the Southern Baptist and is why that many areas were DRY for a long time. Also there are rooms all over San Antonio and most are in very conservative areas. The Casinos have been against them from the start and have not been quiet about it. It cuts into their profits.

And fortunately not everything in life is about being a conservative or liberal.

Indeed. I lived in the DFW area in the 1980s and it was the land of Blue Laws. I agree it probably has more to do with the casinos. As always follow the money.

Either way, they are either legal cardrooms or illegal. I wish there was an official legal ruling.

I know you weren't asking me, but I've played at Post Oak Poker a few times. Mostly good stuff. But the 1/3 there plays like a 2/5. Opening bets are generally $15 or so and scale up from there.
There's a lot of advertising on Prime Social on sports talk radio...been there or heard about them at all?
